The Ministry of Energy has directed the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to review the license of existing Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) in the country to determine their technical and financial capabilities.
The review is to enable the NPA to determine which oil marketing companies are in good standing to continue to operate.
The Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. Emmanuel Armah Buah, made this known in Parliament in response to a question by Hon. Robert Sarfo-Mensah MP for Asunafo North, on the cause of the recent fuel shortage in the country and the actions taken to prevent future shortage of fuel.
Mr. Armah Buah said the huge debt owed by some oil marketing companies to TOR, seriously affected TORs cash flow leading to the recent fuel shortage in the country. He said TOR is now on the path of financial recovery and also has sufficient quantity of oil for supply to oil marketing companies.
