Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Malik Kweku Baako says he smells kindergarten enthusiasm" driving government communication and NDC party propaganda following the gusto remarks made by leading members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the arrest of Sheriff Asem Darkey in the infamous MV Benjamin Missing Cocaine saga.
To him, it amounts to infantile disorder and is very pathetic how the governments communication team has turned the arrest of a prime suspect by the security agencies, a totally nationalistic issue, into a propaganda piece.
A key suspect in the mysterious disappearance of the 77 parcels of cocaine aboard the vessel MV Benjamin case, Asem Darkey, popularly known as the Limping Man was recently busted after having arrived in the country.
Following his arrest, government's communication and some NDC propagandists disclosed the suspect has dropped some sensitive information that could lead to the arrest of certain key figures in Ghana especially in the opposition NPP and warned against any attempt to exit the country.
Contributing to discussions on Peace FMs Kokrokoo Morning Show, the newspaper editor lauded the arrest of Asem Darkey who he described as a fugitive from justice, an escapee and a credible candidate for prosecution. Whiles hoping that his arrest will bring to closure the loose ends in MV Benjamin Missing Cocaine saga, he was critical of how the government's communication team have reacted to "limping man's" arrest.
I smell kindergarten enthusiasm in the Asem Darkey case all over the place driving government communication and party propaganda and it is pathetic. It amounts to an infantile disorder and it is incredible. Security suspect have apprehended a suspect and I will say that is good for Ghana because he is the prime suspect even in the Georgina Wood reportan importer and owner alongside three othersso if such a person has been arrested we need to clap. He was an escapee, fugitive from justice and if has been arrested that is goodrecords show he was a credible candidate for prosecution but for government communication to come out boasting about the disclosures he has made, is uncalled for, he said.
He was emphatic that there was no official complicity in Limping Mans escape, stressing that "it is not as if some official highly placed authority called the police and said turn a blind eye.
The police Sergeants own account of how Asem Darkey escaped shows that he (Asem Darkey) took him to his (Asems) house and gave him $3000Ive heard some say this man was coming in and out of Ghana during the Kufuor eraso they knew and didnt report him? This man, where was he arrested? Isnt it Korle-bu?in an open space. If it was to be an intelligence operation that led to the busting he would have been busted in his hideout. The man was in the open, he had gone to seek medical help (at Korle-bu) and he was busted," he said.
The Senior Journalist slammed governments communication for taking over the job of the security services, wondering what was left for the security services to say. To him, spokespersons for the government and some NDCs propagandists, have killed the credibility and integrity of Asem Darkeys revelations and have "killed the plot" in the whole issue, "assuming without admitting there was a plot".
And now we are being told he was arrested a long time agoif that was the case then the matter even becomes more serious. That suddenly, he will be sprung out in the media and youve govt communicators and party propagandists telling us what he is telling the security services. You know what; theyve killed the plot at birth, if theres a plot! If they have a plot to smear and implicate people and names like Addo Kufuor, former President Kufour, Chief Kufuor, Kan Dapaah and Kennedy Agyapongthen people in the ruling party or government cycles have killed the plot, assuming without admitting that it is a plotWhat is there for the security services to say, whatever they will bring out has lost credibility and integrity. People will challenge the revelation because the issue has already been politicized and people will think the revelation has been falsified."
"How come it was governments communicators who are not part of the professional security intelligent who came out to talk about Asem Darkeys revelation? It amounts to infantile disorder or kindergarten enthusiasm that will drive people in governance to take this approach on such a serious matterIm happy that this man has been bustedyou cant come a conclusion on the matter when this man is running around. Infact there are still others, the Koreans are at largebut its good this man has been arrested. So let the security agencies do their job and tie the loose ends.
Just like Egbert Faibille gave them (govts communicators) legal education, if youve arraigned this man in court and anyone hes named as accessories is walking about freely, then you are killing your case judicially. Its not possible to try Asem Darkey alone without those hes mentioned. I hear some two top journalists received a share (of the proceeds from the sale of the 77 parcels of cocaine). Kwami (Sefa Kayi) your name has been mentioned. I swear to God, that is what I heardThe next day I heard Ive also been implicatedJust imagine all this. They are killing the plot if indeed there is a plot. The matter is dead on arrival. They are not even smart. Look its simple, its basic, its elementary, Kweku Baako said.
