The Northern Youth for Peace and Development is calling on President Mahama to apologize to Nana Addo for down-playing the NPP presidential candidates promise to the Kayayei.
Nana Addo promised to provide temporary housing for the vulnerable head porters when he met with estate developers in Savelugu in the Northern Region.
President Mahama on Wednesday took a swipe at Nana Addo, describing his promise as most insulting of all his promises stressing that the Kayayei canker must not be encouraged.
But Executive Director of Northern Youth for Peace and Development Prince Hardy told XYZ News, the president has done a great harm to the Northern Regions with his statement.
According to Mr. Hardy, nobody can take the kayayei out of the streets without providing accommodation for them. John Mahama has been the Vice President for the past three years, he is currently the president for almost five months; could he get these people out of the street? The answer is no, he said.
He said the promise of Nana Addo is to give the Kayayei a place to stay while training them to acquire skills and that the president should apologise for attacking the promise by his NPP counterpart.
