Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has stated that the level of ignorance and inferiority complex which has eaten deep into some Ghanaians from childhood is a serious matter which need to be addressed with urgency.
According to him, the level of ignorance about country Israel by members of the Christian community, shows how deep-seated the problem.
To him there is a serious problem if our leaders still believe that God resides in Israel alone and so they must travel to the place for prayers.
Speaking on Peace FMs morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ on Tuesday March 19 2013, the outspoken Journalist said that God is everywhere and He (God) will listen to every prayer even if the person prays from the market place, adding that; “there is an inferiority complex that anything Ghanaian is bad and that nothing good can be found in the country”.
According to Kwesi Pratt Jnr., this level of ignorance and inferiority complex has been built in some children so much so that some of them do not even want to communicate through the local language, because they have been made to believe that it is wrong to speak it.
He added that, it is this complex from the past which has made the pastors to think of travelling to Israel because they still carry the mentality that God has a permanent stay in Jerusalem; stressing that there is no sense in this trip since there is no binding rule in the Bible mandating Christians to travel to Jerusalem to pray.
He discounted the argument that Israel is the home of God.
"Israel, cannot be the House of God...torture is now the order of the day...a place where there is detention without trial...killing of innocent civilians? How can that place be considered holy and God's place for God as demonstrated in the Bible many years ago?" he asked.
He further stated that Jerusalem is a place which has geo-political significance thus any government which intends to have any form of deal with them has to have that at the back of their mind.
An annoyed Kwesi Pratt alleged that most of these pastors intending to take advantage of this private-sponspored government-facilitated pilgrimage to Israel live in luxurious mansions, are fabulously rich and can sponsor their own trips whiles others are doing business with their churches and therefore wonders what why they even need government's involvement in the organization of the trip.
