The Minority Leader, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has urged the Speaker of Parliament to summon the Minister of Power, Dr Kwabena Donkor, to brief Parliament on the challenges facing the power sector and measures being instituted to address them.
He said although the minister was scheduled to meet the Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy, he needed to brief the plenary about how the government was addressing the energy crisis.
He said since Dr Donkor was appointed, he had not appeared before the House to state how the problems in the energy sector were being resolved.
Rather, he said, the minister had "been in the media" and had made comments pertaining to the crisis.
As the representatives of the people, Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said, members of Parliament needed to be told how the government intended to solve the problems.

The minority leader also called for investigations into the violent incidents that occurred in Equatorial Guinea during the Black Stars’ semi-final match with the national team of that country. He said reports pointed to the fact that Ghanaians were molested during and after the match, with many injured.
He said the issue needed to be thoroughly investigated and, if possible, compensation sought for the Ghanaian soccer fans who were injured
