The National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] John Boadu has expressed his party's appreciation over the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) decision to demonstrate for a new voters register.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show Ghana Montie John Boadu noted that the NPP is fully behind the three pressure groups – but said it’s unfortunate that the groups have been prevented from picketing at the Electoral Commission Wednesday over a new voters’ register.
An Accra Circuit court issued an order Tuesday to prevent the Let My Vote Count Alliance, Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) and the Movement for Change from demonstrating at the premises of the electoral body.
According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service - “the court further ordered that the organizers converge on Accra Hearts of Oak Park, and present their petition after having marched from Obra Spot to Hearts of Oak Park.”
John Boadu however called on all NPP supporters to join the peaceful demonstration – he also debunked claims that the NPP is funding the three groups for the protest.
“We [NPP] support the demonstration but we are not funding it as purported” he told host Kwasi Aboagye
