The Leadership of the Upper East regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has vowed to leave no stone unturned to get ‘their most trusted son’, Dr Clement Abass Apaak, elected by the electorate of the Builsa South constituency to represent the party in Ghana's law-making House come November 7, this paper has gathered.

The leadership, backed by commanding opinion leaders in the region and some bigwigs of the party according to our sources will soon be launching a vociferous campaign team christened 'Operation Get Back Our Seat From PNC' to champion the Parliamentary agenda of the Presidential Staffer.

According to this paper's insider information, the leadership and its key stakeholders, have already electrified over thousands of the electorate in the constituency and many other faithful scattered all over the region to help execute its agenda as well as securing 90 percent of the votes for President John Mahama.

According to one of the leading members who did not want to the party in the region is convinced that the vocal Presidential Staffer, Dr Apaak is the best man to win the Builsa South seat on the ticket of the governing NDC because the current Member of Parliament, Hon Alhassan Azong has been a disappointment to the constituency.

“Dr Clement Abass Apaak is a genuine man with good intentions for the constituency. We the members of the great NDC are yearning for him to become our next Member of Parliament. The entire people of Builsa North is ready for a change and our vision is do all we can legally to capture the seat for Dr Apaak,” the leading member said.

Another top executive of the party who also spoke to this paper said if rebranding is the process of giving a new image to the party in the Builsa South Constituency in order to make it more attractive then Dr Apaak has breathed that new life into the party in the constituency and deserves their unflinching support to win the seat.

“He has brought to the party, a new form of leadership which is being admired by even people who are die-in-the-wool members of the New Patriotic Party.

Dr. Apaak holds a PhD from Simon Fraser University, Canada, M. Phil. from the University Of Bergen, Norway, International Certificate from the University of Brussels, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ghana.

The fine speaker is also the first international student to be elected to a university board of Governors in British Columbia, Canada, and the first African valedictorian of his graduation class. He is a former SFU Senator and student society president, and is the founder of Canadian Students for Darfur — a partner of Oxfam Canada.

The Builsa South constituency seat which is currently held by Hon. Alhassan Azong of the PNC, is one of the safe seats that has been held by the ruling NDC since 1992.

The seat was won by Norbert Garko Awullay of the NDC in 1992, he held onto it until Hon Abolimbisa Roger Akantagriwen of same NDC took over in 2004. Hon. Alhassan Azong took over the seat in the 2008 and 2012 elections with the support of some members of the NDC because of internal bickering.
