A member of the NPP, Arthur Kobina Kennedy, has called on ousted Chairman of the main opposition New Patriotic Party Paul Afoko not to give up in his ongoing fight with the party at the law courts.
In a Facebook post to wish Afoko a happy birthday, Kennedy, who is currently based in the U.S wrote:
The gentleman has a birthday.
Paul, I predict here that history will see you, as a matyr to injustice and a giant in our party.
I know that the recent court setback discouraged you. Do not be discouraged. I urged you to go to court, not for your sake but for all of our sake. When a man plants a tree that will take fifty years to give a shade in his garden, he does it not because he expects to sit under the shade. He plants it because he expects his lineage to continue and knows that his grandchildren and their children will sit under that shade.
The ruling in your case, just like that of Sammy Crabbe, will stand alongside re:Akoto, the Ayawaso Wugon ruling and many others– in infamy. They all stand as silent testament to the unhealthy politicization of our courts that day-in, day-out, continues to mock our motto–FREEDOM AND JUSTICE!
My friend, the arc of history bends very slowly but IT BENDS TOWARDS JUSTICE.
Soldier on, for our sake, for justice and for posterity. History will wonder what happened to our era, to our party and speculate about the cowardice of those who allowed it. In times like these, it is not the voice of enemies that matter but the silence of friends.
I am a friend– of principle, of justice and of yours!! Therefore, I shall NOT be silent.
