Ghanaians did not have candy and butter running down their taps during the eight-year administration of President John Kufuor and the New Patriotic Party, the governing National Democratic Congress’ Campaign Spokesperson Joyce Bawa Mogtari has said.
“I don’t remember, as I always say, that under NPP for eight years, Ghana was actually a paradise,” she told Prince Minkah on the Executive Breakfast Show on Class91.3FM on Tuesday 20 September while responding to some issues and accusations levelled against the government by Mr Boakye Agyarko, Policy Advisor to the opposition party’s flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo, at a press conference organised on Monday 19 September.
“But look around you today, look at our interventions in transportation, look at our transformation in the sea ports of Ghana, look at the transformation in our road network, look at the elevations in all the key medical facilities we have across the country, look at the new ones coming up, look at the housing infrastructure …” she pointed out in response to claims by the NPP that the Mahama administration had been a disaster and made Ghanaians poorer.
She said the NPP’s press conference on Monday was “… almost trying to create the impression that the eight years of the NPP that we all still remember very vividly were eight years of candy and butter running through our taps”.
“These were eight years of yellow gallons, of people looking for water on the highways here in Accra and in the rest of the Ghana; these were eight years of a HIPC benefit that only gave us tiny little toilets in the wrong places and you can still go round the country and look at them; this is a government at the time that benefitted largely from debt cancellation and just what did they do with all the funds that were received at the time? This is a former administration that actually received huge investment in the oil sector and you ask yourself where it all went to.
Indeed, I recall challenges with water and access to water in portions of Adentan, East Legon, and what have you. All of these failed promises we lived with for eight years under NPP,” she added.
“Indeed, Ghanaians, I always say, are very discerning people. We see an opposition party that is very desperate for power, we see an opposition party that is characterised by a lot of division and disgruntlement, a lot of challenges within their own house, a party that lacks unity of purpose, a party that is just so desperate and will throw anything at anybody just because they want power,” she said.

Really!!!!The economy is in shambles.....!!!!
if candies were to flow, angels shall be the ones talking not you, miss Mogtari. you came to find commercial oil and Gas, that has given you hope for excessive borrowing, yet we slept in DUMSOR TO DUMDAA for Four years. IF candy and honey had not flowed for you, you wouldn't have the nerves to spew such misguided thoughts on us. for me i experienced candy an honey at Koffour's time 1. my mother went to hospital without paying- I saved all i have been remitting for hospital bills, 2. My wife delivered with a petty charge then than what i have paid in NDC era 3.I received daily & weekly calls from Banks, wishing to grant me loans. Now I went myself and the interest is as devil as the government of the NDC- killer interest rate 4. fuel prices went as high as 145 dollars, yet i paid less than 8 cedis a gallon of fuel. it is now under 60 dollars, we are paying 17 cedis for a gallon of fuel 5. we had opportunity to witness introduction of many yuton and other buses unmatched than any period of my life. I could travel to my village just boarding one BUS and getting there sound and safe. 6. at least, light bill was not higher than my rent 7. Our debt was not 109 billion cedis as a nation 8. Woyome had not stollen from us. Our taxes were not dubiously stolen as done by WOYOME, GEEDA, SUBA, ISOFOTON, AFRICAN AUTOMOBILE, ASONGTABA, SADA. 9. AT LEAST I WOULD HAVE HAD A FREE BASIC SCHOOL FOR MY LITTLE SIBLINGS AND WARDS UP TO SHS by now, how sweet that candy would have been? that was a candy which was going to flow so well till NDC became extincted! Because people would be liberated, through education and enlightenment, a phenomenon NDC's hate. May God bring the BEES BACK TO POWER SO TO BEGIN TO MAKE HONEY COMBS AND HONEY! the DRAGON FLY NDC must GO.
However Kuffour time was far far better than the hell we are passing through. Please ***barred word*** your ***barred word*** mouth.
Tell them. They create the impression as if during the NPP days our streets and pipes were flooded with milk and honey.
You don't know what you're saying! Kufuors time was an inch away from heaven on earth. Then in 2008 the national destroyers congress unleashed a series of lies on Ghanaians peddled by yours truly Fiifi Kutre and co and Ghanaians being as gullible as they were voted for mills. We've been going downhill first on a driverless vehicle a la autopilot, and then chauffeured by a de-ad go-at, since then. PS: next time make sure your hairdresser didn't attach your hair too tight. It seems it's affecting the nerves close to your brain.
Who is talking about candy and butter flowing? why do you NDC always want to insult our intelligence? We are talking about real hardships, collapse of all social intervention programs started by the Kuffour regime, the billions of dollars of loans you have cntracted with nothing to show for and you come talking about candy not flowing in Kuffours era? During Kuffour's era, there was free marternal care, capitation grant was being paid, school feeding program was functioning and operators were being paid, a gallon of petrol was being sold for GHC 5.00 now it is GHC16.00 and i can go on and on. So how can you compare this oyur era with the billions of loans you have contracted to the Kuffour era with the meagre amount that came his way even without oil proceeds and the killer taxes the NDC has introduced. Indeed, you NDC have no shaaaaame!!!
For how long have the ndc been in power? And you still talk of corruption in Kuffuor's government, were the courts closed why didn't you send them to court?I tell you not a single if you will be left unpunished if found to have put your hand in Ghana's cookie jar. Look! Your tricks of ooh Kuffuor's government did this and that will not wash, trying to make it look like corruption is part of politics will not wash. You had 15 cases against the NPP Kuffuor's government which by the grace of God they were all found not guilty, you tried with your diabolical minds to jail them for their good works but God delivered them from all those trials. We serve a living God. There is no way these crim*nals in political suits will have it easy in Ghana after 2017, nothing will save the ndc to be retained when the people have rejected them. The battle has been fought and won spiritually by God and it is going to manifest in this December and I tell you anyone who will stand on the way of God will lose his or her life. The death plot by the ndc to Nana Addo will return to sender in Jesus name. The Egyptians that Ghanaians see today, they will see them no more. Long Live Nana Addo, Long Live Ghana. IN GOD WE TRUST.
I wonder how the NPP tries in vain to insult our conscience when they failed woefully in solving the erractic power situation we had during their term. Fuel started going up during their period after making loud noise at the hearts park that Ghanaians were unable to buy fuel. Were was the NPP when people were roaming the streets of Accra looking for water. Those were disappointing moments for Ghanaians and what do we hear now, calling Mahama "incompetent". We thought Kuffuor had a better solution to the numerous challenges facing us as a nation but what did we see, loot and share. Where is Jake, after selling Ga lands and buying gov bungalows so cheap, where is he now? What did Akuffo Addo do for Abuakwa? Akuffo Addo will experience his worse humiliation at the polls this year than ever before. As for Bawumiah, his days are numbered. He would be dumped like a rag, like they did to Aliu Mahama. Discerning Ghanaians have placed the NPP on a scale and they've been found wanting, undeserving and absolutely incapable to lead this nation. We've come a long way, roads are been constructed, Hospitals are springing up, Schools are been built, etc, we can only say #JMtoaso
Sincerely Mahama has done well with the infrastructure. All the politician will steal our money but they should develop the country as well. Mahama is doing well though there is room for improvement. I will prefer he does another 4 years so we can consolidate his plans. Why the haste to change? They all have debts to settle with the tax payers' money (Party and personal debts)
Why wont this ***barred word*** Pepenibea spew ***barred word*** Through tribalism, all of you from there are now farting from your smelly, pitoofic and skunky mouths. God will punish all of you!! AT LEAST KUFFUOR'S POLICIES HAVE ENABLED A DAUGHTER OF A FULANI HERDSMAN'S DESCENDANTS KNOWN WHAT IS CANDY AND BUTTER. WE WILL SEND YOU BACK TO LOOK AFTER COWS AND GUINEA FOWLS AND DRINK FROM EXCRETA-FILLED BOREHOLES!!!
