NDC Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale says dissenters to the Electoral Commission’s (EC) filing fee for Parliamentary and Presidential nomination forms should argue their case in court.
Expressing disapproval over claims by critics of the EC, Hon. Namoale believed the EC has done nothing wrong by requesting what the critics think are extortionate fees.
According to him, the filing fees of GHC 10,000 and GHC 50,000 for Parliamentary and Presidential respectively are a ploy to control any disorderliness that may come with picking a nomination form.
He noted that with such fees, the candidates will be put on their toes as they contest the elections.
To Hon. Namoale, the filing fee is not targeted at specific persons but rather to ensure that the election of a candidate is earned and to help the EC to regulate the system.
