The flag bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) should abide by electoral laws and declare his assets if he is not corrupt, governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Campaign Coordinator Kofi Adams has said.
“Nana Addo is being given the opportunity to declare his assets if he says he is not corrupt. Why is he hiding under not being a public officer?” Mr. Adams questioned.
According to him, “The C.I. that governs elections has an aspect which talks about asset declaration. Indeed, it was based on that section that the Electoral Commission (EC) was reminding people, including private citizens who want to contest elections, to do so.”
Mr. Adams raised these concerns during an interview with Prince Minkah on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Thursday September 29.
Mr. Adams insisted: “The president (Mr. Mahama) has declared his assets long ago.” According to the National Organiser of the NDC, the Three-time presidential nominee of the NPP should follow the example of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and also declare his assets. “He should come and tell Ghanaians what they are running away from, he and his running mate.”
As part of the requirements for the filing of nominations ahead of the 2016 elections, the EC has requested presidential and parliamentary aspirants to declare their assets, but the acting General Secretary of the NPP says there is no law that mandates that request.
“You do not have to do it if you are not a public officer. The law on which the EC even gave the directions is a law that has been repealed. So it is not applicable…” he indicated on the same radio programme.
He emphasised that what Mr. Akufo-Addo will do is to “file his tax returns” but will not declare his assets.

A-plus will get you.
Ghanaian are now wiser. We need change. NDC go away now.
Tell your father to declare his assets outside GH too. No 7 star hotel in Gh but he has one in Dubai.
No problem. The special prosecutors office is in the offing and he will be asking you to declare yours in the coming months. That is when you will know how the aftermath of politics look like.
Has the ***barred word*** speaking Kofi Banza Adams declared his assets? Assets declaration is not a one time thing. If he claims Mahama has declared his assets long time ago, I ask when did he do that? He is to re-declare them every year for us to know how much he has added to it andif his genuine earnings can make up for the additions. ***barred word***
Kofi Adamu, your sponsored presidential candidate Hassan Ayaraga said he has nothing that is why he is still living in his father's house, so what has he to declare?
so when will this 1di0ot with a sm3lly mouth like kaduna gutter or gbonyo tuflemi keep that mouth shut on issues of national importance.
ITS ONLY A FOOOOOOOOOOOL WHO WILL COMMENT ANY ISSUE, WHETHER THEY HAVE ANY IDEA ON IT OR NOT
Kofi Adams, your face RESEMBLES someone who is SHITING when you are speaking, the very REASON why you do not say anything SENSIBLE.mahama is corrupt and we are waiting if such declaration could be made by him.He has undisclosed assets in DUBAI and Singapore according to the PANAMA PAPERS.Adama, you are in power and knows that Nana is corrupt ,WHAT is the govt and ndc waiting FOR?Your statements indicate your inmaturity and you can only hold your office in ndc but not in NPP, b'cos nobody will accord you such a position in our party.PL learn to grow to be MATURED and stop those SILLY comments you make most of the time.
Kofi Adams please make sure you read the law very well, the costitution does not enforced people seeking political position to declare their assets rather those who are elected to public office that must declare their assets. Kofi Adams have you asked John Mahama whether he declared his assets when he was clandestainly given the presidency by the a.c. and the supreme court.shame on you.
