Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has described the ruling by an Accra Hihg Court against the Electoral Commission [EC] as fair practice of our democracy.
The PPP last week filed an application at the High Court to set aside the EC’s decision to disqualify its flagbearer, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, from contesting in the 2016 presidential election race.
He was part of 13 aspirants disqualified from contesting in the elections over alleged illegalities on their nomination forms.
But the court, on Friday, October 28th, ordered the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei, to grant Dr Nduom the opportunity to amend and alter the anomaly for which he was disqualified as well as accept his nomination forms as amended to enable him contest the elections.
According to the trial judge, Justice Eric Kyei Baffour, the EC breached the law of natural justice in disqualifying Dr Nduom from the race, and, therefore, asked the election management body to allow the PPP Flagbearer make the necessary corrections on his nomination forms.
Victory for Democracy
Speaking to the media minutes after the ruling, Dr. Nduom said;
“Everybody should know that we took this action because the situation is beyond me. It is not Papa Kwesi Nduom or the Progressive People’s Party, this is a matter that is important for our democracy, development, freedom particularly our human rights and I believe that it is those rights that have been restored by the courts today. I’m very grateful to the judge for understanding the arguments that our lawyers have made. I’m happy for the Progressive People’s Party, to all our supporters, and especially for the prayers that they have offered on my behalf” .

Ever since this Lady was appointed as EC boss she has been so excited that she is not being professional on the Job. What do u gain if u allow the parties to do the necessary corrections? Her actions reflect the one who appointed her.(mr.incompetent)
ARROGANCE IS A NEGATIVE FORCE...IT HUMILIATES YOU AT THE END...ITS ALWAYS GOOD TO WORK AS A TEAM...MY ADVISE TO THE EC...YOU ARE NOT FIGHTING WITH THE PARTIES...YOU ARE ALL WORKING AS A TEAM...SO THERE SHOULD BE MUTUAL RESPECT....AFTER ALL IS ALL FOR THE GHANA...HOPES SHE LEARNS NOT TO BE ARROGANT...
My EC Boss and the lawyers with her if you were to take your time and handle the case merticulously-give ample time to the presidential candidates, sit with them for the vetting,point out their mistakes to them and give them the opportunity to amend their records you wouldn't have arrived at this situation after all what do you gain from disqualifying them.The EC boss should also know that multiparty is good for African Countries more that a two-party state.It was Dr PAPA Kwasi Nduom that gave NPP Party the idea of youth employment.It was Dr. Edward Nasigri of the PNC who gave NPP the laudable health insurance programme.So all the smaller parties they have wisdom to give to the bigger parties and make democracy very beautiful for us all.
This is opening the game to all unauthorised mistakes and it is sad for our democracy as Candidate Ndoum professes that he is an excellent business man and want to run Ghana like a business with administrative and clerical errors which should be overlooked and A President with such attitude and character going to send shuvers down our spines.
The CE Boss will continue to humiliate herself and all the so called lawyers at EC. What lies your pride as lawyers if you always take hasty conclusions and it ends you this way? You also always refuse to consult Dr. Afari Djan before taking some of your decisions. Even if Dr. Djan is not a lawyer, experience is the best master.
Nduom, where were the PPP Lawyers? The best comes form the NPP. In spite of ACE ANKOMA'S brilliance he could file properly for NIP. Experience counts...ooo
Congrats Papa. I expected your victory. Those of us who want a third political force to make elections more competitive and create a third group of MPs in parliament are relieved now.
wow! this is great news, am happy for the party(PPP) congrats.
