Audio Attachment:Listen to Kweku Baako Jnr. on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' |
Kweku Baako has censured President John Dramani Mahama over his statements on the near-choatic clash between Nana Addo's security personnel and NDC supporters over the weekend.
President John Dramani Mahama, speaking at the inauguration of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, told Ghanaians that he would ensure that the law takes its course on the perpetrators.
He reportedly gave an impression that the incident was perpetrated by his opponents and so assured the party faithfuls that he being the Commander-in-Chief will not condone such despicable acts.
But Kweku Baako who was obviously not pleased with the President's comments recounted on Peace FM's Kokrokoo that the President gave a seemingly divisive address on the incident.
According to him, President Mahama intended to vindicate his party faithfuls suggesting that the NPP were the orchestrators of the incident.
Contributing to a panel discussion Wednesday, Mr. Baako stated categorically that the President took a wrong approach.
“I think it was a wrong line he took. First of all, he said as ‘Commander-in-Chief’. So it means he was speaking as President of Ghana. And the kind of content of the address was suggestive that he feels that his people were innocent and that they were rather the victims, and that he will ensure that the law took its course…I thought what the President should have done at that moment…few hours after that event when possibly he had not been well briefed, was to rather say that Commander-in-Chief he’ll ensure that law and order will be maintained. Whoever is involved in such a thing at the end of investigation will be dealt with according to the law."
He explained that the President even made matters worse by pointing "accusing finger at the other side" by stating that "when one is about to lose an election he clearly sees it and then creates some scenarios in order to justify his defeat. It means he was pointing to the opponents as the one who might have perpetrated the crisis, it was more like we already know who perpetrated the incident and those people know they’ll lose hence their resort to such actions. That one encourages your rank and file and it makes them feel they made no mistake.”
To him, President John Mahama only succeeded in encouraging the party supporters that their confrontation with Nana Addo's security was the right thing to do.
Mr. Baako expressed his disappointment in President Mahama saying his comments made the supporters "think they had not erred. I was not too happy with that particular approach because I then saw that he was talking here as the candidate of the party whose followers had gathered and not as the Commander-in-Chief or the President of the country.”

DESPAIR BEING NDC MEMBER AND SUPPORTER OF TRUTH MY PRESIDENT DID NOT SPEAK WELL AT ALL. HE IS LOSING VOTES DAILY. AFTER CHECKING THE WORKS AND OTHERS PRESIDENTS MAHAMA IS THE WORSE PARTY LEADER WE HAVE HAD.NOW THAT I UNDERSTAND J.J. RAWLINGS THE FOUNDER.
Thank you for pointing out the one sided message to protect his party faithful. Don't forget that Alistair Gunn was in his team. Eiiii,jm.Hmmmmmmm
The President's comments were made from the perspective of a politician, and not a statesman. They have banked on portraying Nana Addo as violent, and in all honesty it wasn't getting any traction, so his comments were purposeful, in that they were meant to feed that narrative. In fact, I believe going by Nana Addo's house was a calculated move. Let me ask you this. You are a known NPP person, and just relaxing in your house. You hear singing and chanting, look outside, and there are several hundred NDC supporters singing/chanting and headed in the direction of your house. What would be your immediate reaction? would you think people are on a routine keep fit walk or that your life was at risk? If the police were aware of the route, shouldn't they have informed residents of his house that an opposition walk would pass in front of their house so they shouldn't panic?
I have always doubted the President's communication expertise. He has been touted as communication savvy but I beg to differ. A very divisive character who always look to be a shy person. Wicked people always behave so. There is no way a small party at the Akufo Addo residence will engage fisticuffs with the millions of bused party supporters at that time. NDC must come again. Their notorious ways of dealing with issues constantly reminds me of how the founder took power in Ghana in 1979 and 1981.
@opana who said bakoe needs your respect .and if the media are all liars then you are also a big liar.cus its from them, you sent all your propaganda's for them to liar for u.
I will be FOO#@&LED and vote for JM. Toaso
non of you guys were there neither bakoe nor sefa kaye yet they presented the case as if they were there, i respected bakoe for his statesmanship and kaye as my brother, but they all lost it and the media are all lairs.
What else would kweku baako and Sefa Kaye say? We already know their agenda so i'm not surprised one bit.
People, people, people I swear this Mahama is a real drunkardd. I'm sure he probably smokes weeeee... HE speaks as an apio drinker. I see his face is always swollen like bokum banku and that tells me his liver is failing.
What do you think? This president is only good at protecting his party followers. He sometimes forget that he is the president of all Ghanaians. The president is a pretender. He talks as if he is not power drank but he is.He wanted second term at all cost but Ghanaians can not be taken for granted anymore, not this year! The president should know that we are praying for Allah to make Nana Addo the next president and Isha-Allah, he will win. Mr. president, the wind of change is coming whether you like it or not. May Allah bring about the change that will elect Nana Addo and Alhaji Bawunia. Ameen Yaa Allah.
