The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has dismissed claims by Ghana’s Ambassador to Namibia that he (Akufo Addo) in a private conversation said a non-Akan cannot lead the party.
Haruna Attah who was a staunch member of the NPP in a statement said "I do recollect very clearly, as if it happened only yesterday, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo invited me to his office at Ridge near the offices of the Electoral Commission. I honoured the invitation, not knowing what to expect. The outcome was one of the most revealing encounters I have ever had with a Ghanaian politician. He raised a number of issues and concluded on my 'support' for the late Vice President. On that, this is what he told me.
The words have been indelibly etched on my conscience: 'Haruna, your support for Aliu was flawed. If you think our party will cede its Akan leadership, you are wrong.' He went on to expatiate on the theme, but with my mind reeling at this blatant and brazen ethnocentricity, nothing else really mattered to me again. When I left, I confided in a few people, mainly family and friends, as witnesses." (click to read more)

That is a simple fact…why would a diplomat like Akufo Addo be telling a Northerner in his face that no northerner will ever rule our party when he has ambitions to be president? I think that we should credit Akufo Addo with some level of intelligence. So this is a total fabrication. It is a panic reaction to the kind of support we are garnering in the north…"

@Teddy, herh...ur dumb papa...eiiii..im sure u were always last in class..hahaha
We are in this country when people from certain ethnic group openly said on radio they would not allow northerners who are 'cattle rearers ' to superintend over them just bcos of John Mahana's bid to become president and these same people described my place of birth as inward looking poeple bcos they dont vote for them,not to forget the famous Osafo Marfo's tape"the presidency is only reserved for people from well resource regions,we have cocoa,oil gold,diamond,timber ect Akans should raise.Yen akanfo The truth hurts but it must be told.
You see NDC how arrogant u are! So a short person does not deserve the honour of becoming president. This is what is sending you to opposition. You have no regard for a section of our society because of our height. God fearing people do't behave this way. I am a short person but have given birth to tall children and that is God's design. And my children love me and respect me. Let all tall people go and vote for your president to retain power.
Hamid give us some intelligence.Nana Addo is a divisive tribal bigot
I URGE ALL NDC SUPPORTERS TO WAKE UP OOO BECAUSE WE CANNOT LOSE TO THAT SHORT MAN
