The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has dismissed claims by Ghana’s Ambassador to Namibia that he (Akufo Addo) in a private conversation said a non-Akan cannot lead the party.
Haruna Attah who was a staunch member of the NPP in a statement said "I do recollect very clearly, as if it happened only yesterday, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo invited me to his office at Ridge near the offices of the Electoral Commission. I honoured the invitation, not knowing what to expect. The outcome was one of the most revealing encounters I have ever had with a Ghanaian politician. He raised a number of issues and concluded on my 'support' for the late Vice President. On that, this is what he told me.
The words have been indelibly etched on my conscience: 'Haruna, your support for Aliu was flawed. If you think our party will cede its Akan leadership, you are wrong.' He went on to expatiate on the theme, but with my mind reeling at this blatant and brazen ethnocentricity, nothing else really mattered to me again. When I left, I confided in a few people, mainly family and friends, as witnesses." (click to read more)
But in a quick response, Mustapha Hamid, Nana Addo's spokesperson told Joy FM Thursday that: "It’s a total fabrication, it’s a falsehood; no such conversation has ever taken place between him and Haruna Atta. That is a simple fact…why would a diplomat like Akufo Addo be telling a Northerner in his face that no northerner will ever rule our party when he has ambitions to be president? I think that we should credit Akufo Addo with some level of intelligence. So this is a total fabrication. It is a panic reaction to the kind of support we are garnering in the north…"

he is such a twerp. I used to respect him. but you see..these are some of the things that enable you to know the kind of people you once called a friends. nana had so many friends and opened up to so many people some of whom were spies, others hypocrites. kwesi pratt, haruna atta, ben ephson to mention but a few. see how money can make out people's true colour.
NDC knows that only jobless people vote for them. That is why no holiday for DEC. 7 so that middle class and business people will not have time to go and vote. Ghanaian, working class and business men, the best thing you can do for your business and future is to go and vote out NDC. Even if it takes the whole day. That will be the best investment ever.
...even if Nana had not made those comments and/or whether Haruna is concocting stories, the actions of NPP in the past is near the truth...the question is why did former president Kuffour support Allan in the past and not the late vice president Aliyu...anyway, this wouldn't take us anywhere than to hope for our choices/favourite...let's pray for a peaceful election
Eiiii Haruna,a small ambassadorial appointment to Namibia can make you tell wicked lies against a fellow man like this? What if you are made an ambassador to the USA? What would you do? You would lie against the Pope! The circumstances under which you told the lie defy common sense.Just reflect soberly on the issue, you will be the first to admit that you are not a crafty liar because you lied and expose yourself! Well, I was taught in the primary school that the definition of an ambassador is a fine gentleman sent abroad to tell lies about his country. Maybe that has affected the Haruna we all knew. The an has changed! Anyway, change is coming and Haruna must change too!
Folks I know Haruna very very well Trust me the guy is a decent man.Ghanaian politics, John Mahama and elections are a poisonous mix.In the first place what kind of support could Haruna give to the former Vice president that was so important that Nana Addo would personally intervene?Again Nana Addo was also one of the people aspiring to be the flag-bearer of the party and remember there were 16 other contestants. Why would he focus on only Aliu?Alan Kyerematen was a more formidable opponent.Besides whether anyone supported Aliu or not the party's constitution mandated all candidates to submit themselves for election.Let the poor man rest in peace.A feeble attempt to equalise on Mahama's infantile tribal comments.Anyway folks come 7 th December come out and plant your boots on this wretched man's backside and kick him and his ***barred word*** friends into outer space.
Why now Haruna? Pig when done eating the next thing it does is it uses his mouth on the ground. That is exactly what this guy called Haruna is exhibiting. Is sad how most Ghanaians sell their brains for food aka toilet.
By their fruits shall we know them. Kwesi Pratt lied against Nana and today he claims to be one of the most successful journalist in Ghana. Haruna Atta is also following suit to catch the eyes of Prez Mahama who can impossibly retain power. It's too late Ghanaians have already made up their minds for change.
Is this really the Haruna Attah of the 1990s? No, I doubt!!!
I hear Nana Konadu ( your own sister-in-law) had issues with you. If true, then I now understand why, because it appears you have no integrity. So sad!
Why did you Wait for that long before letting the cat out of the bag? It can never be true.
