The governing National Democratic Congress has called on stakeholders in the country to call the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to order for trying to put pressure on the Electoral Commission to immediately announce results from Wednesday’s polls. According to them, the NPP is stampeding the Electoral Commission with such action.
“It is against this background that we felt that the NPP should be called to order when they were trying to stampede the Electoral Commission to declare results in less than 24 hours after the polls.
We thought that it was not in keeping with due process and keeping with agreements that we had entered at IPAC with the Electoral Commission,” General Secretary of the NDC said at a press conference on Thursday.
The NPP had claimed that figures available to them suggest a 54.91 percent win for their candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo and called on President John Mahama to concede defeat. Meanwhile addressing the press at the party’s headquarters in Accra Asiedu Nketia said all parties must wait for final declaration by the Electoral Commission.
He also said that “from the result in our collation system, we are confident that the NDC is cruising to victory.”
“We also feel that the Electoral Commission should be given time and they must have the opportunity to implement the decision of the reform commission and IPAC which agreed that even though there could be some electronic submission of results they must wait and get hold of the hard copies so that they can physically check that there will be no tampering of results during transmission.”
“We in the NDC remain committed to the new process and all the agreements entered into at IPAC relating to the collation of results and the declaration of same. We are therefore eagerly waiting for the electoral commission to do their work diligently and timeously, that is, within the 72 hours, so that we can know who is going to rule this country,” Asiedu Nketia added.
Hundreds of NPP supporters gather at party headquarters Hundreds of supporters of the NPP earlier on Thursday thronged the party’s headquarters in Accra in a jubilant mood ready to celebrate their victory.

That is the world for u oo hypocrisy at its peak, did any NPP member said u should order in 2008 when u were in the streets jubiliating as winners, so what are u trying to tell us. the majority Ghanaians have spoken and spoken wisse that they want change and that is what has happened. It is their right to alert the EC to talk since u have receive some already as Afari Gyan use to do before finally declaring the winner. ab3n no abom so be ready to face the outcome
I love all u said and is right he thought the NPP's are like them but they wisely went to nana's house and the great leader calmed them down, just accpt that ak)kora na tu abrante# no since that has been ur message that Nana is old. change has come ampa
IN 2008 ELECTION WHEN THE RESULTS WERE NOT YET DECLARED BUT NDC BELIEVED THEY WERE LEADING IN THE ELECTIONS WE ALL SAW WHAT THE NDC DID IN THE STREET OF ACCRA AND AND EC OFFICE AND OTHER PLACES, ASIEDU NKETIA AND SOME NDC SUPPORTERS GOT TO THE STREET IN A READY FOR BATTLE OUTFITS. WE HAVE TO COMMEND NPP FOR THE CONDITION IN GHANA NOW, STILL KEEPING THE NATION CALM AND WAITING IN CONFIDENCE. NPP HAVE SHOWN SO MUCH MATURITY AND WISDOM. THEY HAVE PUT DOWN THE FIGURES THEY HAVE GATHERED AND SHOW IT TO THE WHOLE WORLD TO BACK THEIR CLAIM THAT THEY ARE WINNING THE ELECTIONS. NDC HAS MADE MANY OF THAT CLAIMS BY MAHAMA, ASIEDU NKETIA, OFOSU AMPOFU AND KOKU ANYIDOHO WITHIN THE TWO DAYS WITHOUT TELLING US HOW THEY ARRIVED AT THAT CONCLUSION. THEY HAVE MADE CLAIMS THEY COULD NOT SUBSTANTIATE, YET THEY WANT US TO BELIEVE IN THEM . WHAT WAS THE POINT FOR NDC TO MAKE THAT STATEMENTS IN SEVERAL NEWS CONFERENCES WHICH THEY STRONGLY STATED THAT THEY ARE WINNING AND THEY ARE IN COMFORTABLE LEAD? IS IT NOT BECAUSE THEY WANT TO CONVINCE THE PUBLIC OF THEIR VICTORY? THEN IN ADDITION KOKU ANYIDOHO CAME TO THREAT THAT IF ANY NPP GETS TO THE STREET HE WOULD ORGANIZED NDC TO MEET AND ATTACK THEM. YES HE IS KNOWN FOR THAT. THEY ORGANIZED KEEP FIT TO ATTACK NANA ADDO IN HIS HOUSE SO IT IS EASY TO ATTACK NPP CELEBRANTS IN THE STREET. THIS WAS UNCALLED FOR. IT SHOW OF HIM AND THE PARTY HE SPEAKS FOR AS VIOLENT AND BAD LOSERS. SO EVEN NOW IF THE PRESIDENTIAL RESULT IS NOT YET CONCLUDED PEOPLE CANNOT CELEBRATE PARLIAMENTARY RESULTS WHICH ARE DECLARED. ALL SHALL COME TO PASS KOKU, A TIN GOD IN GHANA. I AM HAPPY NPP ARE MATURED AND HAS NOTICED THE DIABOLIC INTENTION OF KOKU ANYIDOHO TO CHALLENGE AND PROVOKE THEM TO STREETS FIGHTS AND VIOLENCE TO TARNISH THE NPP VICTORY. I APPEAL TO ALL NPP ABD ALL WELL MEANING GHANAIANS TO REMAIN CALM AND NOT TO GIVE IN TO ANY SUCH ***barred word*** PROVOCATIONS. THE DIE IS ALREADY CAST. THE RESULT SHALL BE DECLARED AND A PRESIDENT WILL BE SWORN IN. NOBODY SHOULD MIND THE TREATS AND PROVOCATIONS OF KOKU ANYIDOHO. WE MUST LEAVE HIM TO HISTORY AND NATURE TO DETERMINE HIS FATE. NPP AND GHANAIANS SHOULD CONTINUE TO SHOW MATURITY AND REMAIN CALM. GOD WILL HELP YOU TO DEFEAT THE NOCTURNAL DIABOLIC CREATURES.
I thought you guys were Usain Bolts? He doesn't cruise ooo he sprints. And from where I stand nana has sprinted passed the finish line while you still have 10 laps to go.
