It is no news that the NDC lost in the just ended election and that they were beaten by about a million vote margin.
The aftermath of the election has however been characterised by numerous analysis on the shock defeat suffered by the NDC as a sitting government.
Ace Ankomah, a legal practitioner, is the latest person to add his voice to the ongoing post election analysis. While on JoyNews' current affairs program Newsfile, he elaborated some of the reasons he felt led to the downfall of the NDC in the just ended election.
According to Ace, social media was the number one contributor to NDC's loss in the election saying the underestimated the effects of social media. He explained that although the party had the social media presence, their messages were not too concrete and conveyed no feelings to convince Ghanaians.
He also reiterated that the NDC government did not do enough to provoke Ghanaians to give them a third term. ''History of the fourth Republic is eight years'', he said. So, for the NDC to have won the elections, Ghanaians needed to be convinced they had done enough to break the status-quo.
Ace also indicated that the NDC's inability or refusal to address corruption issues was also a cause for their loss citing the Woyome corruption case as an example.

I think ndc lost because they think development is all about circle dubai and over inflated and over hyped projects. A young girl said to me that what is circle dubai when I can't afford anything. Ndc thinks macroeconomics is unecessary but they have forgotten it has direct impact on people life. They should have tried to stablise the cedi at 1:2 to the dollar, reduce policy rate to 10%, reduce inflation to a single digit. If they had gone these things that could have won. Unfortunately they don't even understand these macroeconomics and have no clue how to achieve them yet they won't get advise on how to achieve them. Houses that were being sold for ghc250,000.00 when they took office are now being sold for ghc1million and that didn't care. Same applies to every single products and they didn't care. You will remain in partial opposition if npp is able to bring the dollar to ghc2. It means prices of all imported goods will be slashed by half. And ordinary Ghanaian can live better.
i am very surprised at the shallow explanations given by ace ankomah, a renowned lawyer, for the defeat of ndc in 2016 elections. the main problems were the unemployment, dumsor that destroyed people's livelihoods and the arrogance of power by nitwits like koku anyidoho, fiifi 'togolese' kwetey, solomon nkansah etc.
The major reason why NDC lost was that they thought Ghanaians are kids and that they could win on one theme of INFRASTRUCTURE.They did not believe that Ghanaaians were living under Mahama HELL.Life was unbearable for the majority. Most Ghanaians would even have voted for satan himself as the alternative. They were just joking when they thought they could vilify Nana Addo and Ghanaians would buy it.They insulted and tagged any Ghanaian who complained of the economic hardship. If Nana Addo performs very well with the economy then NDC will rot in perpetual opposition. They were so annoying and loved rewarding young men who could insult the most.Has Koku Anyidoho come out of that rat hole?MUTUM BANZA
I could not say it any better. NDC wouldn't have won in 2012 of the process was this transparent. In previous elections, all they did was to check on the roll and vote "ghosts" who couldn't make it Ito the polling election. With the current strict adherence to one person one vote, I knew it was going to be very difficult for the NDC to rig it given the new definition of overvoting and its complications. @Mieza
Folks have all too soon forgotten that the average Ghanaian is struggling with low wages, no wages in the case of the several unemployed, dumsor, high taxes etc. These were the dynamics. The non-life impacting variables just added to the anger and the repulsion that many Ghanaians have developed for the outgoing government. Yes social media played a part, Mr ankomah will say that because he plays big on that space. But I think it wasn't the real deal. The game changer was bad policies of the NDC government, vigilance on the part of the npp, hard campaigning by the npp among other things. Morale of this election outcome... Politicians should not take voters for granted. Case for Kofi juma to chew over
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU PEOPLE ARE PAMPARING NDC'SN ON THEIR ELECTIONS DEFEAT. NDC HAD NEVER WON ELECTIONS IN GHANA OOOOO, THEY ALWAYS RIG ELECTIONS TO WIN POWER. SO GHANAIANS YOU SHOULD STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS EVIL PARTY NDC AND ITS EVIL MEMBERS. I DO GET ANNOYED WHEN I HEAR PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THEIR DEFEAT.
lets face it this election gave real results and every party's real size. With improve technology and with pink sheets now available to parties as sanctioned by supreme court , it is going to be difficult for NDC to win election. Take a trip to volta region and check out how many people ,live there. They have all scattered and most live in Ashanti region. All those 140,000 etc are ghost names that could not be used this year. plain and simple!
