Pollster, Ben Ephson who wrongly predicted Mahama’s victory over his main opponent, Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2016 polls has told the New Patriotic Party(NPP) that he’s not God for him to always get things right all the time.
“The NPP’s attitude towards this polling is worrying; they treat me as God, I feel humbled but I’m not God. If I’ve done five polls and I’ve got one wrong I should walk with my chest out” Ephson said on Kasapa FM Wednesday.
Ephson’s style of polling failed to accurately predict Ghana’s presidential election’s outcome as his tip, Incumbent John Mahama was massively defeated in the general elections held on December 7.
According to the poll, the governing National Democratic Candidate (NDC) presidential candidate was expected to garner 52.4 percent of the votes while his main rival Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would get 45.9 percent.
The other five presidential candidates, according to the forecast were not expected to even contribute more than 1.7 percent.
Following the defeat of President Mahama, there have been pressure mounting on him to apologize to the electorate for the wrongful prediction.
But Speaking on Kasapa FM, Ephson who is also the Managing Editor of the Dispatch newspaper said those calling for his head over what has been widely criticized as a deceptive polls are not serious.
Despite admitting to wrongful predictions, he insists he will only consider readjusting his method and move on.

We are in times when people have become more sentimental. Sentiments begot irrationality. People thus feel ashamed to say their Sentiments because their reasons may not be sane enough. It is only on this occasion that infrastructural development was taken out of the equation of national development. They then become dishonest. That is what happened in Brexit, the US election, the Ghanaian election etc etc That's why all the pollsters got it wrong. I think Ben is right to say he will readjust.
Masa leave us alone. Your colonial ideas are dead. We're in modern and scientific age now. Your ideas are not growing with scientific and technological predictions. Woanni na awu....... shame
AKoa y3 smart! He used his brain to ***barred word*** Jon Mahama and the NDC to chop Ghana"s money waawaa. He and Kwesi Pratt have are now billionaires. Do u know the disease that awaits the two of you which will make you lose all your monies? Wait and see.You greedy bastards!!
Credibility gone to the dogs
This should tell us that those election predictors must not be taken seriously because they only interview those whose response will be in tune with their survey. How can an NDC supporter conduct a survey to be in favour of his opponent? It will never wash.
You are a joke and very funny. When big respected institutions like EIU, University of Ghana among others are using group of professors for polls on the field, but you stay in your bedroom to come out with lies of a poll.
Disgraceful man. Your lies have been exposed and we have come to know your true character
To err is human. Admittedly, some of Uncle Ben utterances leading to the General Elections were completely unacceptable. You sold your hard-won reputation to Hmmmmmmm. Why do you such gargantuan opprobrium onto yourself? Now you see As a student of mathematics, i equally don't see your polls as being scientific. Truly, it is what we call "predict, win or lose thing". In fact, you don't have any adjustment to make. Uncle Ben, elders say "GOOD NAME IS BETTER THAN RICHES"
Please Ben, you were one of the people I respected in the field of journalism. However, this time I think you want too far. If we take a look at the margin of error between the election results and you prediction I guess your work was not scientific. Over 17% margin of error is abnormal Uncle Ben!!!! Could you please let us know your projected margin of error? As an experience pollstar, even if the results were going to change it shouldnt have been totally off. This makes me think that there was something more to it than just getting it wrong
MR. FAT BEN WHO DECEIVED YOU THAT YOU ARE A POLLSTER. YOU ONLY DO PREDICT AND WIN. I THINK YOU SHOULD BOW DOWN YOUR HEAD IN SHAME.
