Just after he was sworn in as the President of the republic of Ghana, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has promised to protect the “purse” of the state to project businesses.
He had earlier promised to curb corruption in government which many believed was rampant in the former administration led by Ex-President John Dramani Mahama.
“I will protect public purse” – he said during his inauguration ceremony at the independent square on Saturday.
Quoting one of his mentors Kofi Abrefia Busia, former president in the second Republic, president Nana Akufo-Addo charged all to "regard politics as an avenue of service to our fellow human being; our success or failure should be judged by the quality of knowledge of the ordinary man and the standard of living he enjoys".
Clad in his rich Kente, the elegant looking president says - "I am humbled by the exceptional mandate and the confidence shown in the NPP and in my person. I will do all in my power to justify that confidence. I will not let you down"

This is a visionary and inspiring speech, perfectly delivered in the right environment , the right time and the right place. The sun was shinning, the voice was presidential and full of confidence. The depth was unbelievably immeasurable and so many meters below and above the ground. Indeed the level of attention given, looking at the faces of the eminent dignitories and to me and others, was a a sign that they were enjoying it. It reflected, the deep and bottled up determination and frustration of the President(Nana Addo) himself. Nonetheless whatever he said was idealistic to me, given that he is going to work through human being who are likely to demonstrate greed, selfishness and propensity to bend the principles of the NPP. Unless and until the visionary leader employs phletora of administrative oversights of all projects including surprise visits to sites, depts etc in order to find out whether the 'value for money' principles are being executed. I wish Nana Addo, the President all the best of luck and Godspeed.
Nana ebaoo Nana ebaoo, Nana abeduru! I'm a happy today. Thank you Lord.
Akufo-Addo gave a good speech. So did Johnson-Sirleaf and Outtara. But the ceremony didn't end well. The exit of the dignitaries was not conducted in an orderly manner.
Nana Addo-Akufo Dankwa's first presidential speech is a call to serious nation building; and to the need for the nation state to come united as one body with a mission. It is high time the Ghanaian put his creative faculty to useful work and started inventing necessary gadgets and equipment to healthily and safely run the home and the community. How long should the true Ghanaian put up with being tagged THIRD WORLD, the newly sworn-in president wonders. The Ghanaian citizen title calls for a redefinition in today's technological civilization. The President would the Ghanaian built a novel civilization by the end of tenure of office. We should not fail him. A great speech this is!
Yiee Nkokorafo3 w3 krom. Ghana is going backwards in leaps effective today 7th January 2017
The Progressive People's Party was snubbed at Nana Addo's Presidential inauguration. Dr papa Kwesi Nduom was the first political party leader to call to congratulate Nana Addo on winning the lelections. Even odile and Greenstreet were invited. Has the |NPP got axes to grind with the PPP that we do not know about?. What a shame.
