The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has advised ex-President Mahama not to succumb to pressure by some elements of his party requesting for him to stage a come back in partisan politics, urging the former leader to buy time and make sober reflection on his legacy.
“It will be very unwise for him to make any statement now” that may bother on his future in local politics, Pratt told host of Anopa Kasapa show, Fiifi Banson on Kasapa 102.5 FM Thursday.
The debate rages on over the political future of ex-President John Dramani Mahama after the exit from government of the former leader over the weekend.
Some elements within the NDC stock are seriously rooting for him [Mahama] to stand for the position of the Flagbearer again in the party, but his immediate family insists that the former President should call time on partisan politics.
Commenting on the issue Thursday, Mr. Pratt said the former leader, should be planning on how to defend his legacy.
” Nothing has happened yet. He should be expecting that his legacy would be attacked. If he’s not expecting that his legacy will be attacked then he’s naive. You can’t move in and out of presidency the same way to check in and out of a hotel. It’s a serious business. When I talk about defence of his legacy, I’m talking about political defence of his legacy which may include other things like legal defence and other things. And the defence he needs to make may lead to the conclusion that he needs to make another brake.”
Meanwhile Pratt said Mahama’s Family has no locus to decide for him in national issues, insisting that he’s become a national asset and no longer belong to his family alone.

No-ns-en-se.Do such people think its for nothing that with all the resources NDC used for campaigning and yet Mahama lost bu more than 1million votes?Fact is Pres Mahama is the worst leader Ghana ever had.Look at the economy under him.He borrowed so much plus oil money and yet cos of his incompetence took the country to IMF.He inherited an economy growing at 14% and within 2yrs brought it down to 5%.If he dares contest in 2020 i bet you the humiliation at the polls will be worse. He adopted lazy approach to governance i,e borrow, borrow tax and spend and corrupt practises
Mr Pratt you are wrong. It is only his family (his wife and children) who can advise and decide with the ex president any future endeavours including front line politics now that he is not the president. He might even loose his home region if npp performs well as the president is well determined to do. Our best bet is to present a new candidate and see what happens in 2020. If we don't win he or she should concede and congratulate the winner and who knows if we present the same candidate in 2024 with change campaign we will have a chance to win. This is my take.
You are right Kwasi. Pres. Mahama consult God and hear from Him, do no rush.
kwesi I don't want to hear you again. You have your v8 what next. who made you an advisor to the mahamas
Kwesi, do you believe that Ghanaians will vote for Mahama even if Nana Addo does not fulfill all his promises ? If you are really observant, you would know that the NPP this time will not joke with the massive endorsement by Ghanaians. and even though they may not be able to fulfill all their promises, Ghanaians will begin to see improvement in their lives and will certainly not vote for NDC in 2020.You probably do not know the extent to which Mahama's presidency has damaged any shred of confidence that people had in him and his administration. He virtually abused the mandate and refused to listen to reason any longer. If he contests in 2020, he will get less than 40% of the votes. He should just save himself further embarrassment and as for you the less I talk about you the better.
Kwesi Pratt "Chameleon" and "Julor".
So we can say "Mahama family has no locus in decisions he takes since he is now a national asset"...Pls how do we handle national assets??? Did we consider the late President to be a national asset as we claim now?? Why was the nationals of this country denied the results of what killed the late POROG (President Of the Republic of Ghana)?? wE must be ashamed by now..
thanks Master thats a great advice
