Despite seemingly going against the constitution, the Member of Parliament for Builsa South in the Upper East Region, Dr. Clement Apaak believes he did not err in receiving campaign funding from non-Ghanaian sources. Dr. Apaak, a known anti-corruption campaigner, said he was unaware of the constitution’s position on such matters and insisted that receiving campaign funds from non-Ghanaians did not constitute corruption or a breach of the law.
The constitution, however, says, only a citizen of Ghana may make a contribution or donation to a political party registered in Ghana.
The matter came up on Eyewitness News where Mr. Apaak was speaking to speculation his bid for parliament was supported financially by the Presidency. He denied such speculations and said his campaign was instead funded on the benevolence of friends and family both home and abroad who made “very significant contributions.” When probed on the nature of such funding, Dr. Apaak said he was unable to quantify such funding but said “the campaign is a process so depending on when you are going to have activities… I made a request and somebody gives you 2000, somebody gives you 3000 and somebody gives you 4000 and it adds up and then you go and engage in your political activity.” “If they chose to support me, I think it is their right to so and if I chose to take the support I believe it is my right to do so until otherwise proven… if friends and family decide to support my campaign, I really don’t think that is any breach of the constitution,” the legislator argued.
“My daughters are half Ghanaian and half American so how do you place them,” Dr. Apaak quipped further in an attempt to explain the matter wasn’t as black and white.

***barred word*** OF THE LAW IS NO EXCUSE. SACK HIM FROM PARLIAMENT
How did your daughters become half US half Ghanaians? They are US citizens if born in the US. They are US citizen if they acquire US citizenship thru green card, and denounce the Ghanaian citizenship. Have they filed for dual citizenship? So stop that cr@p and own to your NDC dishonesty as with your father, John Mahama. You guys are ***barred word*** and looted state coffers. Your time is coming soon...

Predictable! After all John Mahama found nothing wrong with collecting a Ford Expedition bribe from Kanazoe so why should Apaak see anything wrong? The corruption is in their DNA so they have little control over it. A bunch of disgraceful politicians. If this thing called Apaak is in parliament then you can imagine the bribery he'll engage in.
LET US GET EDUCATED BY THE RIGHT PEOPLE BUT NOT THIS SO CALLED DR. APARKE. DOES IT NOT OFFEND THE CONSTITUTION TO ACCEPT FUNDING FOR POLITICAL PARTY ACTIVITIES FROM NON-GHANAIANS AS BOLDLY ACKNOWLEDGED BY THIS GUY? I AM SURE THERE WILL BE A BY-ELECTION VERY SOON IN HIS CONSTITUENCY AS HE HEADS TOWARDS NSAWAM.
Another NDC minister who is co.rrupt.....
MORALITY GONE TO THE DOGS
EEEEIIIIII, NDC, SO THERE WAS NOT ONE WHO COULD BE CLEAN??? APAAAAKI, U SAY WHAT? UR CHILDREN ARE WHAT??? MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I will try the Law to see if what this man is saying does NOT conflict with the 1992 Constitution and for that matter his win should be annulled PERIOD.
