President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will not be intimidated by agitations from party members over the appointment of District Chief Executives (DCEs) and Municipal, Metropolitan District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), says National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu.
Addressing the media at the party's headquarters in Accra, John Boadu said appointments are strictly based on merit and as such, the party will not succumb to any "noise" from any quarters.
President Akufo-Addo on January 11, 2017 revoked the appointments of MMDCEs and is expected to appoint new ones to serve in his administration.
Even before the announcement, some members of the party are suggesting that appointees must be people who contributed to the party’s victory in the 2016 elections.
But John Boadu who doubles as acting General Secretary of the party stated that appointments are made in consultation with party executives and other stakeholders who know the calibre of people who would help President Akufo-Addo achieve the list of promises made to Ghanaians.
“You must realise that we have made some commitments in our manifesto. A promise to make sure that we are able to have a factory in each and every district. We expect that we will have MMDCEs who understand what it takes to establish an industry in a particular district…” he said.
“We want people who are capable of managing the MMDCEs such that by the time we go for elections, it will not be difficult for the NPP or people we will sponsor. It is not just about working for the party. No. I don’t have interest in a particular district… We are not going to allow ourselves to be blackmailed by noise. We will make sure that everything that is done will be in the interest of the party and party people should understand,” he added.

Am disappointed to haer this coming from you John Boadu. You want people to work and spend their money abnormally for only you guys in Accra to enjoy. You lair bad. A place like Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai in the western region won the seat and elections due to hard work and dedication from the youth. We have heard Hon Agye Manu who abandoned the party and stayed in Accra all this while wants to be the DCE again cos he is the only sensible man in the district. if you make any attempt to impose him on us you will neva like the outcome.
Every NPP member is ok with Nana's choice. Anyone who complain is an NDC member.
Boadu, Shut the fuck up and reason as human being that was given birth by human...you can decide not to vote for the party come 2020, who cares?...Primitive thinker.
Hey, my friend you need to tread cautiously. You and few executive from Accra couldn't have brought the party to power alone. There are silent majority who brought the party to party, so mind your words. 2020 is around the corner, if you start this way, you would create problem to the party to lose miserably in the next election. Even kwamena Duncan who was just singing stoupid songs on Peacefm is now a regional minister. We need some appointment too.
