President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has begun the “I pledge campaign” as part of Ghana’s diamond jubilee celebrations.
The initiative introduced by the 60th Independence Anniversary Planning Committee is to encourage every Ghanaian to pledge to do something beneficial towards the growth of the country.
President Akufo-Addo, who began the campaign on twitter pledged “to provide equal opportunity and prosperity for all.”
Ghanaians, according to the anniversary planning committee, are to join in the campaign by taking a picture of themselves on social media with their pledge with the hashtag #iPledgeGH.
Nana Akufo-Addo encouraged citizens to share their pledge.

Pledge to stop your undisciplined supporters. Your few weeks in power have been marked by violence even at the seat of government and you stand here pledging to provide equal opportunity to all. Remember some Ghanaians have been sacked from their work places because there have been a change of government. So where in lies your sincerity? Please, spare our ears. You have created the opportunity for your private army to do as they wish. Interesting about this whole issue is that people who would have comment on such actions in the past are all silent and now preaching about how unhygienic preparation and eating of fufu is. What I always say is that "we have an ultimate judge" who will judge devoid of biases because He is NOT a human being.
Please, a 60th anniversary is NOT a Diamond Jubilee. Whoever posted this news item should correct him/herself immediately. A Diamond Jubilee is 75 years anniversary. I see quite a number of our journalists are getting this wrong.
