President Nana Akufo-Addo must not take Ghana backwards, ex-Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Prof Emmanuel Martey has cautioned, saying: “Ghanaians are watching”.
Condemning the mayhem perpetrated by pro-government groups like Delta Force and Invincible Forces, Prof Martey said their action is a “national shame.”
Right after Nana Akufo-Addo was sworn into office in January, the Invincible Forces went on the rampage and seized some state institutions and also sacked perceived opposition elements.
The Delta Force in Kumasi also harassed the President’s Regional Security appointee and also stormed a court to free 13 of their colleagues who were standing trial for the assault.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony at the Christ Apostolic College in Kumasi at the weekend, Prof Martey said : “The methods of the pro-violent vigilante groups like the Invisible forces, Delta Force, Bolga bull dogs, Western Crocodiles and all the rest with their unorthodox modus operandi have doubtlessly been a severe dent on the democratic credentials of our country and the earlier the government puts a halt to this national shame and puts damage control strategies in place, the better for our young democracy.”
He said even though the Akufo-Addo government is less than 100 days old, Ghanaians were nonetheless watching his every move.
“Minimise your mistakes, violence is violence no matter who commits it, violence is violence no matter who perpetuates it, and must be condemned in no uncertain terms. Ghana must not be taken years or decades back, we must move rather forward into freedom and justice, progress and development in order to bring into fruition the vision of our political forebearers,” Rev Martey said.

Frankly; you do have some educated illiterate tankers on this media forum because this media avenue affords everybody to express their opinions ; opinions are not facts uless it is backed with legitimate evidence besides insulting people does not erase the fact that the case with the Delta forces is a party political matter which should have been settled amicably within the party by Nana Addo and the elders of the party and not by the government behind close doors ; to me leaving it to Kana Dapaah was very toxic because Kan Dappah is not a well liked person in the party; the man is arrogant and very selfish person; the man is not prepared to go into the trenches but wants to be a minister ; the fact that Jon Mahama brought these Chinese to rape our lands does not make it right for Nana Addo to condone the act and wait till this bruhaha to start ; Nana Addo was aware of ;glamasey' long before he was president ; Nana Addo was aware that the civil servants which includes the customs and Immigration were involved in massive racket to allow these chinese to rape our lands and sheet in our rivers ; go to Kyebi Nana Addo hometown and see the rampage in these areas ; are saying Nana Addo is not aware ; Nana Addo should have as his first act just issued a 'fatwa' to STOP the galamasey business how can you allow these chinese to sheet in our rivers and pollute our rivers just because people including the Chief Amotia is also involved in such business ; massa we all touted for Nana Addo to help in our different ways but will not sit down for when things are going WRONG besides just because Jon Mahama did something does not mean Nana Addo should condone it ;afterall Nana Addo is the President of Ghana and can issue executive orders to STOP galamasey and these Chinesse activities; blaming Jon Mahama will not help anybody !!!!!
Nana, Mr. President, I believe you'll agree with me that no QNE including you of has the right to take the country's laws into his/her own hands. For some of your supporters, the so called "Delta Force" to behave the way they did in Kumasi is roguish and appalling. Nana, Ghana is not a 'Banana republic' and that, it is about time you put your feet down and put an end to the vigilante activities going on in and around the cities and towns.
what are you talking about Tony the Bull, Mahama allowed the Chines from the Airport goes straight to the mineralization sector to practise the galamasey, The NDC allowed the Chines to carry Guns to intermediate the villagers who leaves at that land. where did they get their guns and the raffles? The Nation security is so weak, They brought them through Airport, Tema port and harbour or our border post.We need strong security for our dear Nation and i know for sure NPP will provide it.
"The Evil that Men Do", I do not understand your beef. We in the Presbyterian Church still our ex moderator in high esteem. And for me coming from where he comes from had never ever disgrace us. He is not only bold, but straight and affirmative. His criticisms and direction is for this nation and her leadership. So Nana should wake up NOW, and put these forces to rest. If they the forces think that they possess the necessary brains and the firepower, Trump can make good use of them in the desert.
Isn't this the same Rev Martey that was so political, insulting Mahama, and claiming that only Akufo-Addo is fit to rule Ghana? God is so good ... He sometimes provides judgements for us right in front of everybody. Rev Martey, you should be ashamed of your tribalism. You and all your kinfolk. Mahama will always be better than our current excuse for president.
Unlike the NDC that will insult you for making such comments, we the NPP has taken your criticism in our strides and I can assure you that the Delta force people will be thrown into prison, serve their entire prison term without a presidential pardon to prove that Nana Addo does not endorse lawlessness. However, if NPP can do this to its own members, then the I pity NDC after the set up of the office of the special prosecutor.
Oh Mr martey, if I were you, I will spend all my time going for WAYOME and NDC to bring the 50M$, because 50M$ can build 5 hospitals.
You hit the nail right on its head!!! That is all....
For once someone is being principled here. Good move there. Keep it up.
What is that ***barred word*** Martey talking about. Better respond to ex moderator Frimpong about your evil deeds . Who respect you in Gh after you disgraceful term
