Director of Elections of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has called on President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to organize an orientation programme for his Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo said this following comments by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Upper Denkyira West, Daniel Appianing, on the lynching of the late Capt. Maxwell Mahama.
The DCE, reacting on Adom FM on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, said the deceased was a leader of a military detachment dispatched to the community to protect some Chinese illegal miners.
“There is a large number of military personnel protecting the Chinese that the lynched soldier is alleged to be part of it, in fact he is said to be the leader . . . I am shocked they are not briefing you very well but rather claiming they are here to fight galamseyers,” he stated.
The DCE's claim didn't sink down well with Mr. Ofosu Ampofo who is asking the President to orient his appointees with governance techniques.
He found the DCE's claims very unfortunate, stating emphatically that "with immediate effect, they should assemble all their MMDCEs and organize an orientation programme for them about the work of a DCE . . . one of the things that a government does very quickly is that after getting your MMDCEs confirmed, immediately within one week time, you assemble all of them and organize an orientation for the experts to educate them. . . you need to switch them from the campaign mode immediately to governance mode. It requires training. It requires capacity building.”
Mr. Ofosu Ampofo also condemned the lynching of the Military Captain and expressed condolences to the deceased family.
He further urged the security agencies to give “radical attention to national security and the situation that we’re facing today” in order to avert any violent acts in the offing.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo, thank you very much for the advise given to the Presdent. It is in order when you child misbehaves, you called the child to order. Did the former President or was he ever advised to do such a thing when his MMDCEs were misbehaving all over the place? It is not a question of equalization but do you remember the Tweaa DCE? After his episode were all MMDCEs summoned to be talked to? When Hon. Oko Vanderpuije went shooting the tyres of innocent citizens were MMDCEs summoned to be told how to behave? Now just yesterday a statement has been issued by the NDC blaming the President of the Republic for being responsible for the murder of our gallant Office capt. Mahama. If this statement is really coming from the NDC a party Mr. Ofosu Ampofo belongs to then I am afraid Mr. Ofosu Ampofo is a HYPOCRITE. How can a political party come out with such a statement. Are there no ELDERS in the party? Mr. Ofosu Ampofo should rather go and advise his party about the unduared statement they hve issued concerning the Denkyira Obusai incident. This incident should not be given a POLITICAL TWIST at all. rty
If u want to advice you better advice our weak public institutions who are always protecting rich people who come up against the law and working the law against poor people. As far as we all condemn this act; If the right things are not done we should expect worst than this. You see if it was to be an ordinary Ghanaian who cares? No one..But because it affected a high profile person look at the way all the media is condemning the act. Is he the first person to suffer similar fate? We have people who suffered such fate in the past and how did the whole media reacted? We are in a society where justice only favored the high profile people but the poor are left to suffer on their fate. I tell you the God we worship will make this leaders pay for their actions. Public institutions need to wake up. Am even waiting for the day all this Judges who denied Justice to poor people to suffer similar fates other than innocent people.
