Police personnel have raided the residence of the former Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor.
John Jinapor confirmed this in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Kokrokoo.
According to him, he was about to set off to Parliament on Friday when he was informed about the presence of the Police in his residence.
He noted that the Police were in search of some documents in his house over investigations into the AMERI Power deal.
"They had a search warrant on them. Ater they had showed it to me, i asked the police officer to give me a copy (of the warrant), but he refused," Mr Jinapor recounted.
“They searched everywhere, my bedroom, kitchen, my children’s room, garage and everywhere possible, but I told them that I don’t have anything with me and that every document regarding the Ameri deal was left at the ministry. They took my IPhone (but i took the sim card out first) and asked that I bring my laptop too. I told them I don’t have a personal laptop, the one I use is a property of parliament and so I will go and ask the Speaker if he will allow me to go and give it to them," he added.
The AMERI Power deal was signed by the erstwhile Mahama government.
The company was contracted to provide 300MW of power across the nation at a value of $ 510 million.
But the deal has suffered a major blow as it has emerged that the contractors for the deal executed the project at a price of $360 million.
The Police also invaded the residence of the former Minister of Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, over the same issue.

Ghanaians must stop using phrases such as "the police have invaded ..." because the police are doing their legitimate duties. The use of the word INVADE makes this particular police activities appear as ill-intentions.
they just doing their job, INVESTIGATION....duh! Stop crying wolf. Thus isn't witch hunting. Some of the ndc members themselves know some of their people were corrupt and needed to be investigated. Having said that, I think the Bni, police or whoever is involved in this investigations are probably not handling issues very well. Adequate intelligence should've been gathered first, so that when the police move in on these people, it would have been done at the same time, same day so none of them will have the opportunity/ies to hide evidence. Now all the rest involved are on high alert. They sure will destroy anything that will link them to anything incriminating. Selasie Ibrahim, Ibrahim mahama and co are the main culprits in this deal. But as it stands, they've well covered their tracks.
@Ken if every government comes and the political leaders steal the state funds, and the next government also instead of collecting the money and rather also steeal what will be LEFT for the development of the country for the future generation. If one organization is able to make project of GH¢360 becomes GH¢510 is it good for the nation. The Government should collect any state money with some people unlawfully. The NEXT government also should collect money which some politicians will get unlawfully even imprison them. When this continues for some years, the Country will see proper development. What is the size of Mauritious politicians there CANNOT steeaal money there because of punishment to be given to politicians. NO MERCY FOR THE CRIPPLE. EVERYONE WITH STATE MONEY WILL BE COLLECTED.
***barred word*** life. NPP should remember they will not remain in power forever. Just like nations, kings and leaders are born and they die so will political parties. When you focus too much on your opponent you lose your focus and your opponent will win the sympathy and protection of people because your opponent will be perceived to be venerable. If the government continue like this they will lose the 2020 election. A ward to the wise.
