Police personnel have raided the residence of the former Deputy Power Minister, John Jinapor.
John Jinapor confirmed this in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Kokrokoo.
According to him, he was about to set off to Parliament on Friday when he was informed about the presence of the Police in his residence.
He noted that the Police were in search of some documents in his house over investigations into the AMERI Power deal.
"They had a search warrant on them. Ater they had showed it to me, i asked the police officer to give me a copy (of the warrant), but he refused," Mr Jinapor recounted.
“They searched everywhere, my bedroom, kitchen, my children’s room, garage and everywhere possible, but I told them that I don’t have anything with me and that every document regarding the Ameri deal was left at the ministry. They took my IPhone (but i took the sim card out first) and asked that I bring my laptop too. I told them I don’t have a personal laptop, the one I use is a property of parliament and so I will go and ask the Speaker if he will allow me to go and give it to them," he added.
The AMERI Power deal was signed by the erstwhile Mahama government.
The company was contracted to provide 300MW of power across the nation at a value of $ 510 million.
But the deal has suffered a major blow as it has emerged that the contractors for the deal executed the project at a price of $360 million.
The Police also invaded the residence of the former Minister of Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, over the same issue.

This Abu Ginapor guy thinks he is untouchable. He is always on peace fm making noise as if he knows it all. They used the Ameri money to fund John Mahama's campaign and must face the full rigors of the law. If he is found to be part of this create loot and share then he must be jailed to serve as a lesson to people who think they are close to a particular former president so they are untouchable.
And they have some ***barred word*** standing orders that a Parliamentarian cannot be arrested on their to or back from work. Who made such staupid laws? A minister cannot be made accountable in due time because he is an MP? What a staupid democracy with staupid laws! Now they turn to the public for mercy. You are minister and needs to account in a any way the security agencies deem fit. If it is unlawful, go to court, not the media. 'Invade', Oh peacefmonline - dont think you have dumb readers.
Does I care....in lilwins voice 😁😁😁😃😃😀
Government's functionaries who chop Govt money are called witches in Ghana. If u leave Govt. without traces u are free otherwise prepared to be hunted until a court of competent jurisdiction frees u. For one to be free or not investigation must be seen to be conducted. As for my house as been raided it won't stop now, because a with has been sighted and must be hunted.
Judges, lawyers, state leaders, military officers and civilians.who did nothing wrong were drag from their homes and exec.uted and your that wre.cker Ghana breathing through your nose and voice from out from your mother is complaining and talking nonse.nse.
***barred word*** John,we are tired of you politicians. You guys will steal when you are in power and when the law catch up with you then you start using br)for akase traumatised, witch hunting, dwarf chasing, devil catching...if really think you've done nothing wrong,WHAT BE YOUR sweat? We are tired of politicians.Masa let the laws and the system work
Aaa Ghana, so can't we be a little smart and a step ahead on our investigations. Do you think this man will ***barred word*** leave any documents or evidence relating to this ameri power deal, after the police gone to the former power minister's house over the same issue for some days now. Why this investigation did not take place on the same time at this individuals house.
I thought the Minority dared the president to prosecute anyone in the NDC. You go see!! TH*IVES
When it is a politician, their friends in the media jump to their defense and condemn police action. If this had happened to an ordinary Joe like me, nobody will even notice it. Why won't politicians continue to threat us with the contempt they are so much used to, and see themselves as superior human beings who deserve ex-Gratia while the rest of us don't? This country is full of wicked hypocrites and vampires who carry themselves as saints on the airwaves. Ghana is finished!
Jinapor should know that the police are doing their work. If you don't have something to hide why will you be complaining? Is it wrong for the police to go a suspects house fully armed? Weapon handling forms part of the police core training.
