Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) chief Biney has said emphatically that none of the founding fathers of the country’s history can out shine Kwame Nkrumah despite attempts by the new patriotic Party to take the shine off him.
He explained that even though other members of the big six played significant roles in gaining our independence, it was never going to happen that the others would outshine the first president of the country.
According to him, the country has over the years celebrated members of the big six by naming monuments after them so he could not fathom why the NPP will organise a lecture just to paint a different picture of the existing history.
“Images of the big six are on our monies, buses and interchanges have even been named after them. So what else can we do as a country to show our appreciation”, He said.
The staunch member of the NDC communication team added the government could go ahead to declare 4th August as a national holiday if they think the others are not being recognised in our National history.
He made this comment to Bonohene Baffour Awuah on the Yensempa show which airs on Agoo TV.
His comments comes on the back of a lecture delivered by the speaker of parliament Rt. Hon. Mike Oquaye who’s statement suggested that Ghana has over the years told half the story of our political history highlighting the achievement of just Kwame Nkrumah leaving out other members who played an integral role in gaining independence.

Who is talking about outshining Nkrumah. The truth is that there is no founding father. We have founding Fathers. People initiated the move for independence before Nkrumah was invited. Those people wanted out independence to be done in a grand style.Ghana's development would have been like south Africa if Nkrumah had allowed the White men to stay in Ghana. That was the vision of the leaders of UGCC but impatient Nkrumah messed up the whole vision by sacking/returning them to their home countries. The black man is never capable of managing his own resources as Nkrumah said. The reason is because greed, wickedness, selfishness, stealing and corruption is what is killing the black man.How can you give %58 bauxite concession to your brother because you are the President. So u see greed and wickedness here.
Chief Biney be serious and do not beat about the buush. Who is talking about who outshining whom? People are concerned about history being skewed! How on earth can the invitee become the founding father when others had started the process of liberation before he joined them? This can be judged by even a class 1 pupil and it will not be like Atubuga's Election Petition judgment. Why do Ghanaians, especially the educated, resent the truth being told. Why do we not want our history to be told in its entirety? Ghana had a first Prime Minister and first President in the person of Mr. Nkrumah. However, considering the history of Ghana's independence, no one person deserves the title of Founding Father.
