Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has denied making proclamations suggesting that Ghanaians should quit whining about the poor state of roads in the country and rather pay the mandatory tolls as obligated in order to fix and maintain the roads.
According to him “it would have been disrespectful of me to suggest that Ghanaians stop whining about bad roads and that certainly is not and has never been my nature as a politician or a person.”

My attention has been drawn to a publication on Ghanaweb.com with the above title.
I wish to refute the erroneous impression created by that publication, in particular, the headline, as misleading.
Nowhere in my interview on the 11th of December 2017 on Citi FM did I say or suggest that Ghanaians should "stop whining about bad roads" rather, what I spoke to at length was the difficulties with road financing currently faced by Government, the need to have an open and frank discussion about financing options as a nation as well as the delicate nature of the issue due to the belief among some sections of the Ghanaian public that for some time now road tolls have not been properly utilized.
I then went on to suggest, as a means of addressing the challenges with road financing, a public-private partnership which includes the public assisting Government in financing major road projects.
It would have been disrespectful of me to suggest that Ghanaians stop whining about bad roads and that certainly is not and has never been my nature as a politician or a person.
I do hope this rejoinder addresses the erroneous impression created and puts the matter to rest.
Thank you.
Anthony Abayifaa Karbo MP
Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways

Hmmm Oyiwa !!! When they need power, they will come to your level - when they win power, they create a wide gap between you and them. Suddenly their mantra has changed and they are now singing a new song we don't even understand.
Tweaaaa,And the same people was criticizing the previous government by saying Ghanaian will not eat road.It serves us all right
My brother Karbo,if you are listening to me, this is below the belt. Please, choose your words with respect. Please, do not speak like the NDC babies with sharp teeth. Speak to Ghanaians with respect because they gave you power to rule them. Serve them with respect and dedication. Do not allow Ghanaians to begin making comparison between our great young minsters and the NDC disrespectful young ministers at the time. Look at the way the president and the vice president speaks. May Allah guide each one of you to serve mother Ghana with respect and competence.
He was speaking for Akufo Addo.
oh so you guys did not n=know any better, how to "fix" the economy that you claimed ndc were mismanaging. now the people should stop complaining and pay road tolls!!! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
masa masa, if u really said that then you are not cccorrect. jx small power u have look at what u re doing... i always say its appointeees who will send us to opposition. such recklessssss statement
Until the taxes and tolls the government has been collecting is accounted for transparently, there is no moral justification for harassong Ghanaians to pay more taxes or tolls.
There is absolutely no justification why anybody in this country can call for continuous paying of road tolls or increasing road tolls. We as citizens have a right to know how the collected funds have been utilized because we have not seen any difference in terms of improvement in road infrastructure. So if you call our demand for accountability whining then be prepared for more whining. We part with our hard earned money in a country having some of the lowest wages in the world and you have the audacity to suggest such a thing! It is justifiable to summarily suspend all and any road tolls forthwith until we can figure out how to utilize the fund for improvement of our roads. Enough is enough!
Honourable, whatever you said or didn't say doesn't matter now. What is important is that you start fixing the bad roads to shame your accusers!
I listened to that interview and honestly i was disappointed in your submission. When you guyz are in opposition you active differently from when you are in power. suddenly you are advocating for more tolls when you know very well that all the tolls we have paid have not been used properly. We are watching you guyz keep on breaking Ghanaian heart posterity will soon catch up with you. Beware before you are tagged an arrogant guy
