The Chairman of the Millennium Excellence Foundation, Mr Victor Gbeho, has stated that some $25000 and $100,000 charged per expatriate who sat close to President Nana Akufo-Addo at a recently held awards ceremony organised by the foundation, were for fund raising purposes.
“The truth in the matter must come out,” Mr Gbeho told journalists at a press conference on Wednesday, 20 December, adding: “The figures charged were for fund raising and sponsorship but some of the companies have not even paid”.
The former Ambassador said the foundation will no longer have a presidential table at the event since it has learnt its lesson from the raging controversy over the fund raiser which the Minority in Parliament and some civil society organisations have expressed concerns about.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has summoned his Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen over the $100,000 for seat saga, Communications Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin has said.
“…We want to be clear that we heard it just like almost everybody from the MP for Asawase on the floor of parliament and also through the media. The president had no knowledge whatsoever about the fact that people were being charged $100,000 to sit by him on a table, he had no idea whatsoever,” Mr Arhin stressed.
The President through the Chief of Staff has directed the Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyerematen “to come up and brief him and tell him whatever is entailed in this issue because just like you, we have no idea, absolutely no idea, the president had no idea whatsoever that a certain amount of money was being charged by anybody for people to sit by him,” Mr Arhin reiterated in an interview with Emefa Apawu on Accra-based Joy FM.
Mr Arhin said “the president will make a final decision on that matter”, once Mr Kyerematen has briefed him by 5p.m. today, Wednesday, 20 December.
Mr Arhin said the President’s query to Mr Kyerematen is to enable him understand all the issues related to the alleged sale of access to him at the recently held award ceremony.

Gbeho is the only trusted friend of Rawlings and his evil wife Nana Konadu in the NDC today.Nana Konadu graced the award ceremony in which the president was sold for 100k bucks.Do you expect the spent horse Gbeho to say anything different?
1. WHY INSULTING GBEHO, BECAUSE HE IS NDC. WHY SHOULD WE CONTINUOUSLY MAKE GHANA DEPOLARIZED. WE NEED BIG MINDS TO FORGE UNITY AND COLLABORATION AND BROADLY SOLICIT VARIED OPINIONS FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND HELP TO REDUCE POLITICAL TENSION IN THE NATION. 2.DON'T INSULT EUGENE. THE PRESIDENT HAS THE RIGHT TO KNOW IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES AS IT HAS BECOME CONTROVERSIAL. 3. DON'T BLAME ALAN AND TRADE MINISTRY. MINISTERS ARE APPOINTED TO TAKE DECISIONS AND INITIATIVES. THE PRESIDENT CANNOT BE INVOLVED IN EVERY MINUTE DETAILS. 4. SELF SUPPORTING - MANY A TIME SOME MINISTRIES BECOMES VIRTUALLY DORMANT DUE TO LACK OF FUNDS TO OPERATE. IF MINISTRIES CAN HELP TO RAISE FUNDS TO SUPPORT ITS ACTIVITIES FAIR AND GOOD, PROVIDED THE PROCESS IS TRANSPARENT AND THE FUNDS RAISED IS ACCOUNTABLE. 5. STOP BEING PETTY - WE NEED MATURE OPPOSITION FOR PRODUCTIVE CRITICISM. WE DONT NEED TO CRITICISE FOR THE AIM TO STIFLE THE GOVERNMENT. PARLIAMENTARIANS SHOULD STOP BEHAVING LIKE BOYS GROUP TOGETHER IN BOARDING SCHOOL TO SPEND MONEY OF PARENTS. MANY MPS ARE VERY UNREALISTICS. THEY MUST STOP BEING PETTY.
All inclusiveness is not always an incentive. Mr. President must act swiftly by reprimanding the Minister of Trade. Secondly, all monies collected must be returned. Thirdly, Allan Kyeremateng must resign immediately.
I guess this one Nana addo is not to be blamed, but in the case of President mahatma even when someone's needle fell down he was to be blamed. I see what is going on a karma working against Nana addo and his competent barwumia. You people have been voted for on the basis of Nana addo saying they have the men, however, the so call men are all thievesss. Can you imagine if this happened under mahama, they would have gone to BBC with this. Just one year in office the corruption being displayed is unprecedented in the history of Ghana. They claim to be competent yet look at the problems going on with the first year free shs. Meningitis is killing students yet vaccines are not available to immune these students, and we call this competent change. Just one year, they are thinking about retaining power instead of ensuring Ghanaian lives are better.
NPP must be careful with these NDC guys they are dealing with..... This Gheho is a die hard NDC guy why deal with him.... He collected the money from the participants without the knowledge of the president and Muntaka was shouting about it in parliament.... Was it not this Muntaka guy who was accused by his own NDC colleagues Ablakwa and Ayariga for giving them bribe money from Agyako? Most NDC people are l.i.a.r.s.... They do not tell the truth.
First it was Jospong, and now it is Gbeho. NPP people are very very very stuuuuuuppppppidd to be foooooooooooled do easily by NDC ppl. Ghanaians must learn that NDC and NPP will not solve national problems and we must stop following them and find more serious parties.
So NPP have not learnt their lesson eh? They want to go to opposition so soon without delivering on their promises. Go ahead and play the ***barred word*** with the NDC ppl. You will go to opposition and you will see that being stuuuupppppid is the occupation of a foooooooooooooooooooool.
Victor Gbeho and his wife are the once who organize the event. They took the money from the people. But I blame my npp people, why allow Victor Gbeho to do this event, take money from the people and now his own NDC party are saying NPP took the money. This is a big lesson to the NPP that stop dealing with NDC. When they were in power they never did anything with you guys.
So the NDC are insulting their own as a thieve
@otolio do you read at all. He NDC man have that company that took the money from the people not any NPP person. But I blame my npp people for this. Ken has been telling you people not to deal with this people call NDC you see now that their own big man took money from people and they turn around to say is NPP ..
