Government's attention has been drawn to the treasonable comments made by the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, to the effect that the government of President Akufo-Addo will be overthrown.
Government also takes note of the statement made by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia that dissociates the party from Koku Anyidoho's statement.
Government is however concerned that the NDC does not condemn the treasonable comments of Anyidoho.
We find the NDC's reluctance to condemn Anyidoho as particularly disturbing because Anyidoho alleges that, "the 'Coup d'etat' is starting on Wednesday", and we know that the demonstration on Wednesday has the full endorsement of the NDC. It is therefore important that the NDC demonstrates its commitment to democratic governance by showing that the Wednesday demonstration is not a smoke screen for fomenting insurrection as Anyidoho claims.
We therefore call on the NDC to show its commitment to Democratic Governance by condemning unreservedly, the treasonable comments of its Deputy General Secretary.
Government assures the citizens, that it will take appropriate steps within the bounds of law, to protect the security of the state.

As Ghana under the present government marches forward and step by step improves the institutions within the country to the satisfaction of the majority, the level of frustration within the NDC will grow daily because it is becoming abundantly clear to them that the possibility of coming back to power through legitimate means is becoming a mirage. The statement Koku made is an indication of their frustration. Majority of these so called NDC gurus are not capable of creating legitimate wealth on their own therefore without politics their lives are a mess. As we match towards 2020, these skirmishes will escalate because a desperate person no longer fears death. As Ghanaians become more discerning about politics, such stomach politicians will gradually be wiped out of the political arena and only those with a true passion for the development of the country will be voted into office.
it is important to be responsible in our language even as we disagree with one another. i do think that Koku was not responsible and has to be dealt with in accordance with law. democracy means more responsibility on individuals to behave properly. this should be dealt with by law. i hope he makes a good defense to his case. good luck and learn from this if you gain another opportunity.
