Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a former Executive Director of policy think tank Danquah Institute (DI) and Senior Partner at Africa Legal Associates, says President Akufo-Addo is not as concerned about the size of his administration but he's rather focused on having a 'results-oriented government'.
His comment comes on the back of heavy bashing the Akufo-Addo-led government received after it disclosed that a total of 998 staff work at the Presidency.
Political pundits were surprised at the figure especially with the fact that the NPP lambasted the Mahama administration for having 678 workers at the presidency.
In reaction to this in a facebook post, Gabby indicated that his uncle; "Akufo-Addo has never put lean government before a government that delivers".
According to him, "I recall in 2006, we were working on a speech and when I mentioned ‘lean government’, he told me point blankly that our situation in Ghana calls more for a well-resourced government machinery that can deliver.
To drum home the point, he said the whole of Brong Ahafo had one senior prosecutor when he was appointed AG.
“The consequences of that is the delay and denial of justice to both the accused and victims of crime. I want to focus on the delivery machinery, on results.”
I don’t think he has changed. None of his 3 Manifestos stressed on the concept of small government. To him the capacity and ability to deliver is what matters most. Competent delivery is, after all, cost effective".

Ghana has unfortunately fallen into the hands of criminals and ex-convicts like Gabby who we learnt was the architect behind the US$20,000 protocol fee collections at the flagstaff house. Suddenly we have been ushered into "***barred word*** kingdom gov't" - it is four legs good two legs bad. Surprisingly his name was not included in the list of 998 staffers; yet a "a kitchen cabinet member" at the flagstaff house. This Party.
A COMPETENT TEAM TAKES LESS HUMAN RESOURCES TO ACHIEVE FAR GREATER RESULTS THAN INCOMPETENT TEAM. CONTRARY, THOSE WHO PARADED THEMSELVES AS MOST COMPETENT GROUP/TEAM ARE USING MORE MEN/HUMAN RESOURCE TO ACHIEVE EVEN FAR LESS RESULT. ZERO FACTORY IN A YEAR ZERO DAM IN A YEAR ZERO MILLION DOLLAR PER CONSTITUENCY IN A YEAR THIS IS A CLASS EXAMPLE OF SUPER INCOMPETENT. GOD SAVE GHANA
How can a government in power compare his first year in office with another government last year in office. Is only fare and prudent to tell us the amount NDC spent in their first year in office with what NPP spent in 2017.
Sstupid ***barred word***
Ash I sometime thinl if these NPP guys like Gabby think we a fuuulls. And i dont lame them cowar.ds like Prof Addai who was once on the previous government will defend these nauseating numbers. Hypocrates
if a stuppppidddd party like NDC wins power bcose of the stuuuupppppidddity of current NPP, they will have 2000 staffers. That is why we must stop this stuppppid way of running the country
gabby's comments are irrelevant. Ghanaians deserve proper govt. one day, an incompetent party like the NDC may get power and misuse these privileges, that is why most of us are not angry.
Waaaaaa look at this. Competence can simply be using small numbers to achieve greater productivity. The fact that you want to achieve great result doesn't warrant so much workforce. In this computerized era, it's only a lazy government that uses so many people to achieve its goals. So much money is being wasted on unqualified workforce when a lot of the youth have come out of the univertsites but are wasting away because of unemployment. Some of these youth can even do better than some of the so called party faithfuls employed by nana addo. What is nauseating it that these people are receiving between 10000 and 12000 GHANA a month, while all the youth need is about 1000 GHANA a month though that is not enough. Instead of wasting these money on unqualified party men and cronies, you could have use the monies as capital to support youth who want to do some retailing business and pay back. It's so sad the way nana addo has disappointed most of us.
***barred word*** government
Gabby if you don't have anything sensible to say just ***barred word***. I wonder how these NPP people see Ghanaians
