Professor Kwesi Botchway, Head of NDC’s election 2016 fact-finding committee has asked grassroots members of the party to be wary of aspirants who exchange money for votes.
According to him, the members of the party must prevent the rise of such leaders.
He stated that it is in the interest of the party to regain its position as a party with integrity. As part of uncovering what caused the NDC’s defeat in the 2016 elections, the Kwesi Botchway Committee toured the country soliciting views from party loyalists.
The party is in the process, to elect leaders from the branch level through the selection of a flagbearer.
Speaking at the June 4th revolutionary lectures, Prof Botchway indicated that the rise of what has become known as ‘moneycracy’ in the NDC has hugely contributed to the party’s loss in the 2016 elections.
“The rise of ‘moneycracy’, the quest for money, some monetary reward so to speak for belonging to the party. It is for the constituents to reject such candidates,” he said.
In 2o16, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), formed a 13-member committee to investigate the cause of the party’s historic defeat in the December 7 polls.
The committee, which was formed by the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee (NEC), and approved by its Council of Elders, was chaired by a Former Minister of Finance and Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Kwesi Botchwey.
President John Mahama was defeated by the New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akufo-Addo in the December 7 elections, in what many described as the worst performance put up by a sitting President in an election.
The 55-page report, titled, ‘listening to the grassroots’, stated that the NDC must take urgent steps to restore the integrity of the register.
At the presentation of the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, expressed hope that the recommendations will help capture power for the NDC in the next elections in 2020.

Prom, your good advice will keep you far away from becoming he flag bearer of the party, NDC, Again from what you've been saying coupled with your intentions your committee report will never see light until after December 2020. Mahama and all those with him in the party will not let it come out.
Botchwey DON'T worry your heart to try to stop moneycracy in ndc bcos NDC MANTRA is CREAT LOOT N SHARE. Sorry yolur advice can NOT hold water. Try to Woyomise yourself to win the flagbearership or forget it bcos the grassroots of ndc are adicted to bribery and corruption that is a fact. Your founder took bribe from Abacher. I wish you well

@ seriously? I believe you need a brand new head.
I doubt that Kwesi Botchway is an NDC member! NDC members to reject bribe? That will be after the 10th coming of Christ! Mr man you may be chased out of the race with cutlasses if you do not withdraw your advice and apologise to the grass root members of the party. Next time watch your mouth in order not to spew out any abomination to party members. Don't you know that bribry, corruption, double salary, etc are delicacies of NDC?
Digging Mahama for his incompetence and corruption, but Dr. Botchey, don't forget the "African mamba" episode with the High Commissioner. By the way, how is the product of your "African Mamba" doing? Is he/she a Canadian or a Ghanaian? She/He is a Canadian Ghanaian. Politicians are all the same.
Prof. Botchwey, are you sure of what you are saying> People love you because of your money. And in politics, it is as clear as the day follows the night. You better start gathering cash for your campaign, otherwise forget about it.
NDC was built on corruption and money sharing, so what are you talking about? How did people like Ablakwa succeed in becoming MPs only after they were made deputy ministers? On their own, they did not dream of standing for elections, but once they became deputy ministers, they quickly ran to their constituencies, shared money, and got elected. So what are you talking about?
