Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on the leadership of the Church of Pentecost to get Government to fix the road leading to the Church’s multi-purpose convention and retreat center at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
Speaking at the retirement service in honor of the immediate past Chairman of the church, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, former President Mahama emphasized the need to get roads in good shape to compliment the national developmental efforts by the Church.
According to Ex-President Mahama, on his first visit to the Pentecost Convention center [PCC], the then Chairman of the Church Apostle Opoku Onyinah told him that he invited him (President Mahama) purposely so he could see the bad state of the roads leading to the ultra-modern facility owned entirely by the Church.
The Ex-President Mahama however said that his efforts got some parts of the road fixed adding that he expects the new leadership of the Church to call on his successor, President Nana Akufo Addo to put in place efforts to fix the remaining parts of the road.“I remember in the early days when this convention center was built, I was invited to a program here I attended as President and in the course of Apostle Onyinah’s speech, he told me that I invited you here personally and I was a bit puzzled, and he said you see the road you traveled on ? And indeed if you arrived here and you saw the work that had been done here in terms of the magnificence [PCC] and you compared it to the roads it was like day and night, and I directed the officers of the urban roads to start doing something about it”
“The last stretch leading here still needs to be fixed, I hope that my successor the President was here so you would’ve told him the same thing you told me, so that the road will be completed.” Former President Mahama said leaving the whole congregation filled with laughter.
Former President Mahama was however full of praise for Apostle Opoku Onyinah. He said Apostle Onyinah lived a life that was an emulation of Christ’s life.
Mr. Mahama singled out the “significant” growth of the Church of Pentecost under Apostle Onyinah.
Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, the immediate-past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, on Sunday, August 26, 2018 officially bowed out of active service after 42 years of successful ministry.
He was succeeded by the former head of the COP in Koforidua Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye as the new Chairman of the Church.
The Church of Pentecost has a national population of over 2.5 million people.

Please Mr Mahama, next time do not disgrace yourself before the public again. I am not sure the said road got deteriorated from 7th January 2017. Why did you not fix it? before leaving office? Please, behave like a statesman and not a serial caller. Thanks.
Irresponsibility of private citizens is part of the problems confronting lack of development in Africa countries. We want government to do them all. Even the United States private individuals are allowed to adopt portions of roads to develop them. Shame to black African
This is yet another evidence that Mahama is a complete waste*! The man is boldly admitting that he failed to fix the same road when the church requested it directly from him (as president). This man is such an 1diot, to even dare call on Nana to go fix the same road he refused to fix. Thank God the NDC is going to field him again as their flag bearer. JM's level of incompetence is legendary.
Mahama is very shameful ex-president ever. What is the church using their money for? Please if you don't have message go home and sleep
Ahhhh should he have said anything at all?
he has no message
This John Mahama guy knows no shame. Ghanaians kick you out as president in less than two years due to your inefficiencies and you have the gust to tell us to ask your successor to fix a road that you failed to do anything about. What stopped you from fixing the same road when you were a president for almost 8 years?. We were damn right to kick you out. Your incompetency is very clear now.
You should have fixed it when you were in power. ***barred word***.
What else does Mahama wants? Is it greediness or what?
shouldn't the department responsible for roads in their own initiatives and planning construct our roads? Should churches or for that matter the citizens call on the government before roads are built? Do we have MPs, Regional ministers MMCEs, DCEs, Ghana highway authority, Feeder roads etc being paid monthly and yet do not know where services are required? Where is their pro activeness? Are we not giving too much powers to the politicians to play with the country? And for an Ex- President seeking a comeback to spew these words tells me that invariably he is like Absalom who said oh if I were the King I would better your lives so come follow me... Why should the central government be in every single thing we do in Ghana? Politics and Parties will never cease to divide us if this is how we think things should go...
