The Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reiterated the resolve of the Nana Akufo-Addo government to transform Ghana within the shortest possible time through the implementation of policies and programmes designed to make Ghana a modern economy.
According to Vice President Bawumia, after just 20 months in office, the Akufo-Addo Presidency has done more to digitise and formalise the Ghanaian economy and society than what has pertained in Ghana for several years.
“The Akufo-Addo Government is doing things, life transforming activities and reforms, what we haven’t done as a nation over the past 61 years, in just in 20 months. We are implementing reforms that will provide the critical, soft infrastructure that will ensure that Ghana becomes a modern economy.
“In just 20 months, we have implemented policies and programmes designed to formalise the economy and make life easier for both the ordinary Ghanaian and businesses.
For instance today, through the use of technology, getting a Drivers’ Licence has been made easier and cut out the need to pay a middleman before accessing an essential service. This is certainly good for the ordinary Ghanaian and business.”
“This government is building a new, confident, modern Ghana through the use of technology and the implementation of critical reforms. We have delivered in this short period, and will continue to deliver in the coming days, months and years,” the Vice President maintains.
Vice President Bawumia touted the achievements of the Nana Akufo-Addo government in its short stay in office when he addressed participants at the UK-Ghana Investment Summit in Accra on Tuesday 16th October, 2018.
Outlining a number of critical building blocks for formalisation such as ensuring unique identification (Ghana Card, to be rolled out nationwide soon), location (National Digital Property Addressing System-GhanaPostGPS implemented), seamless payment system (Mobile Payments Interoperability implemented), justice delivery (E-case tracking ongoing), improved access to education (Free SHS, E-education ongoing), and facilitating business operations (paperless port, E-registration of companies, etc), Vice President Bawumia maintained that the government was committed to moving Ghana beyond aid while creating the environment for the growth of the private sector.
Other reforms, such as a streamlined, online process for passport acquisition, digitisation of all land records, injecting transparency into the procurement processes by making all processes easily trackable online, and the ongoing development of a national Emergency Number linked with the emergency services, fire and police services, and designed to give a caller’s location for faster response times were all part of the jigsaw, Vice President Bawumia stated.
“In the area of health, processes are underway to ensure the speedy supply of urgently required blood and medication to isolated, hard-to-access communities through the use of drones. The processes should be completed soon, and I’m happy to say that Government is not paying a pesewa for this. It is being funded by the private sector,” the Vice President disclosed.
Vice President Bawumia urged the investor-community to take advantage of Ghana’s business-friendly environment to engage their Ghanaian counterparts to set up shop, while pledging Government’s commitment to staying the course of formalisation
“While we strive to make further efforts to make Ghana a leading business destination through the formalisation agenda, I will urge you to talk to your Ghanaian counterparts and explore ways we can work together to make Ghana better. Given what we have been able to do within this short period, you can be rest assured that we are poised to achieve even more.”

@Emerson eeii skin pain paaa nie? Well if you care to know Nana with all that you have said is PRESIDENT. Go check the records he is also an accomplished Lawyer. he has brought dignity to the presidency unlike what we saw before. You know what get a life!
Incompetence, Dr. Bawumia is when your boss Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, was sacked from Oxford University for poor academic performance and suddenly surfaced in University of Ghana, where his uncle Professor Alex Kwapong, the first indigenous Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, massaged results for him to graduate with a 3rd Class in Economics instead of a University Pass degree. Incompetence, is when your boss Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, sneaked into UK and suddenly returned to Ghana and was suspiciously and secretly called into bar in July 1975, while the legal fraternity was on legal vacation. He was made a “fake lawyer” and sworn in alone in the Chief Justice’s Chamber by Chief Justice Samuel Azu Crabbe, in the presence of his father, a former Chief Justice Edward Akuffo-Adoo. Meanwhile, properly qualified would be lawyers like Nana Ato Dadzie, Tsatsu Tsikata aand co were in the Ghana Law school and were called to the Bar in October, 1975, to open the legal year. Incompetence is when Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata was writing legal arguments for your fake “lawyer “boss, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, to use in court to win cases because your boss was made a lawyer and he didn’t study any law as he claims. When your fake lawyer boss, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, the so called astute lawyer filled a suit incompetently “in famous the matter of the Attorney-General Vs. Tstatsu Tsikata in 2002. His fakeness and incompetence were exposed and his nose “bloodied” by Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata. This gross incompetence he exhibited with his so-called legal adviser and personal Assistant at the Ministry of Justice Ms. Ursula Owusu. Well, incompetence Akufo-Addo’s abysmal performance in that case was explainable. First because he is not a lawyer. Secondly because he was coming against the very man, the competent Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, who wrote he Nana Addo Akuffo Addo’s arguments for him in the matter of the Republic Vrs. Agama, and several other cases. Incompetent and fake lawyer Akufo-Addo knew that he will be no match for Tsatsu. Thus, jittery, he committed blunders even first year university students will not commit. Incompetence is when, the law qualifications of Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, were questioned by Justice Francis Kpegah. In that suit, Mr. Kpegah stated among others claims that Nana Akufo-Addo never signed the matriculation book at the Law School which was evidence of enrolment in an institution and that the defendant was not known to have changed his name neither had he been installed anywhere in the country within the meaning of the 1992 Constitution and the Chieftaincy Act. Rather to avert disgrace your fake “lawyer” boss claimed through a non-academic and certificate issuing organization, the Ghana Bar Association, that his law certificates were missing. In a purported letter, which was signed by E. Bart-Plange Brew, acting Administrative Secretary of the Ghana General Legal Council, stated that “I have been informed of the loss of Mr Williams Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s qualifying and enrollment certificate”. According to that October 2007 letter, even though Nana Addo’s qualifying and enrollment certificate was missing, he, Mr Brew could still certify that Mr Williams Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was enrolled and called to the Ghana Bar at a meeting of the General Legal Council held at the Supreme Court on Tuesday 8th July 1975. Really? He did not make photocopies of his certificates or framed them to display in his Prempeh and Co Law Ofiice? Interesting. Well fast forward, Justice Kepgah’s assertions were confimed by Myjoyonline.com news “ Billy’ Akufo-Addo meets 1962 classmates in London” on 08-10-2018 Time: 05:10:10:am. In an attempt to raise your incompetent boss, his lies in respect of his eligibility to practice law in Ghana as stated by Justice Kpegah were exposed. The article claimed among other issues and I quote “He subsequently joined Inner Temple and trained as a lawyer under the apprenticeship system known as the Inns of court, where no formal law degree was required. He was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in July 1971.” Interestingly, when Billy visited his alma mater Lancing college he didn't find it prudent to visit the prestigious Inner Temple where Billy claimed he was a law apprentice according to the famous reportage by Joyfm news. Well, the simple answer is that Billy is not known to Inner Temple establishment. Bcos he Nana Addo was never an apprentice in Inner Temple as he claimed. Bawumia, you see your boss has been exposed. He had no law certificates but claimed they were missing. This lies qualified for his removal from the high office if we were in a civilized country. Keep your mouth mute. Now competence will not go in for 110 ministers, competent wont arrest the dollar and allow it to escape from prison custody, Competent will not go and share expired foods to flood victims, A competent Vice who cannot read an expired date is this one too a president, disgraceful man ever. Competent wouldn't go and Pay $ 2.5 million for a digital address which doesn't exist, Competent wouldn't destroy business, competent who was an economic guru in opposition but become ***barred word*** in Government. The incompetent one in this country is well known. You are beyond redemption in your incompetency and lies. If Mahama is incompetent, you wouldn't be having sleepless nights, coupled with premature ejaculations all over the place. The dollar is now competing with your age. In fact, you Bawumia you have two brains, left and right. The right brain has nothing right and the left brain has nothing left. That is why octogenarian Osafo Marfo has taken you’re your job as the Head of the Government Economic Management Team and leading the Team to the IMF/World Bank annual meeting in Bali, Indonesia. You and the blocked head Ken Ofori Atta, who scored 4 Fs in A levels in Sixth Form in Achimota are disgrace to this nation. When the Akyem Mafias are using you, your brain begins to act insane so you talk anyhow. The ball is on your court play it and you are still complaining.
I think bawumia is still in campaign mode. How many taxes have you introduced in 20 months? No government has been able to squeeze Ghanaians with so much taxes and at the same time given billions of dollars tax reliefs to foreign companies in 60 years, no government has closed so many banks in 60 years. Think about those that have been affected by the closure of Banks alone, because a lot of businesses have been severely affected by the closure of Banks. The closure of Banks is an attack on the economy of this country. Shoulda thought about it before obeying that IMF order!
GUYS ROME WASNT BUILT IN ONE DAY. ALSO DO NOT LOSE SIGHT OF THE FACT THAT THE NANA ADDO LED NPP GOVT INHERITED A ROTTEN ECONOMY. REASON UP AND PRAY FOR THE SUCCESS OF OUR DEAR MOTHER GHANA. NANA ADDO AND DR BAWUMIA WILL DELIVER. INSHA ALLAH!!!
Unless VEEP explains wht he meant by “modern Economy”
That is absolutely true!! The lies, the corruption, the daylight robbery, the tribal bigotry and a lot more have never been seen in Africa mpo
