Fred Agbenyo, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on government not to "rewrite the history" of Ghana.
According to him, the attempt by the government to amend the Public Holidays Act should be a plot to downplay the relevance and status of Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, as the Founder of Ghana.
Government has laid a new bill before Parliament to amend the Public Holidays Act to include January 7 and August 4 as statutory public holidays.
The government has proposed to make January 7, Constitution Day and August 4, Founders' Day.
The bill seeks to scrap the Republic holiday on July 1 and AU holiday on May 25 whereas the Founder's Day on September 21 will no more be observed as Founder's Day but only as Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day.
Addressing the issue on Peace FM's 'kokrokoo' programme, Fred Agbenyo found the new bill ridiculous because to him, no one can undo the works of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Fred Agbenyo believed there are attempts to depopularize Dr. Nkrumah and cautioned the Akufo-Addo government against using tactics to write off the legacy of Nkrumah as Founder of the country.
“Any attempt to rewrite the history, you know to change the history of this country won’t help us . . . Let’s leave the history to be where it is. This subtle way of trying to change it doesn’t help anybody,” he said.

Some Ghanaians aee so coward that now they use imoji aa their name. Cowards die many times before their deaths, the valiant never taste of death but once. You open your mouths wide to insult people your fathers and mothers age and you think you will live a better life? you will suffer papa before you die. Akufo Addo has lived his life well so well that even not becoming president he would never go hungry,he was born to win, some people are born with greatness others achieve greatness and if you haven't achieved nothing in your life time at your age but think you have to use your damn God given time to insult successful people instead of listening to their history to use that as a starting point to also get a better life, you choose to insult them, vilify and denigrate them, the world is not coming to an end today and nobody knows of tomorrow but you make Hay while the sunshine so bad weather which is age doesn't over take you. There is nothing miserable, sorrowful and regretting in life than living in poverty in your old age ,so keep on insulting just because the man has chosen his old glorious days to sacrifice to his country and whatever you do today is waiting for you tomorrow and you will pay a heavy price for that, never think you will never grow old look back at you 10 years ago and now. I weep for those ndc vagabo*nds, those nonentities, those do nothing lazy f000*00ls who are wasting their youthful time and instead of working are living on handouts in their youthful times and are being used to insult people who their masters who sent them to do their dirty work can't match them in anyway if even they take 100 years, should realize they are ready to accept the consequences of their actions during their youthful times. Most of those the CPP used as propaganda machines to insult and vilify others, most died before 1980 and they died paupers, some were real beggers! Keep on insulting Nana Akufo Addo and your cost for that in future is huge! had I known is always at last !
Free advise, Ghanaians have six million problems and this is what you sent to Parliament? The Bible says we shouldn't pull down the house of others. It seems you and your family are very happy to pull down the house of Nkrumah. You should rather concentrate on building your own reputation so that you can leave a legacy behind. You are in your seventies very soon you will be with your father's when you see them ask them what they did to destroy Nkrumah. You can even ban the name Nkrumah and you won't succeed. Nkrumah will never die.
This goes to for Akufu Addo, if you think you can kill Nkrumah you are joking! Haven't you heard that Nkrumah never dies? Nkrumah will never die. Even your father and uncle's CIA couldn't kill him. So many devilish things was said about Nkrumah and yet the whole of Africa see the greatness in him. Nana if you are reading this it is because a man dedicated his life to serve his people and provide electricity even when your uncle's were taking bribess from CIA and throwing bombs at him. Nkrumah would never close down indigenous banks to please colonial masters.
The first man was black. God created Adam and Eve in his own image and likeness as black people. God put them in the garden of Eden which is in Africa. The garden of Eden was not in Europe, it was in Africa. There was no white man, it is only the black woman who gave birth to all of us. The white man Lacks melanin that is why he looks pale. The black man has a solid history that date back to the days of Adam. Africa had the name Africa thousands of years ago, Europe had their name about 200 years ago. They can't compare themselves to us.
Ghana and Africa's history did not start when the melanin deficient guys who call themselves white came back here. Massa kwame Nkrumah did very well and he deserves a holiday. But, Nkrumah is not our only hero. We had manza musa we had King kufu who built the great pyramids we had the missing who went to Spain and conquered them and enslaved the people of Spain about thousand five hundred years ago. The mossi people after conquering Spain built the first European city. The white boys are so ashamed to admit that they were enslaved by black Africans so they say it's the Muslims from northern Africa. And they call them Moors. Kwesi bronni, call them whatever you want to. We enslaved you and by God's name we will enslave you guys again! We're too great to start our history from Nkrumah.
is the president sick?, how can you do such a s.tupid thing. we had so much hope in you and not these use.less bills. are you aware after sacking boakye agyarko DUMSOR is coming back?, are you aware that after FREE SHS nothing good is happening in the country, arent you aware Ghana is so QUITE with no moving or shaking. christmas is always dull but this one the weather even doesnt support the festive season. is time we tell the president the fact that we love him, he cant do such s.illy things. january 7 isnt constitutional day, the constitution we rejecting taking part was before january so why january 7?. you can add your parents birthday, you wife day, your kids day all as holiday but we wont allow you to change JULY 7. seem Ghana presidential power is becoming too cheap from mahama days. i miss the days of matured presidency ( JERRY & KUFFOUR). masa, solve the dumsor and stop the f.oolish thing ok? your father and uncle and well granny cant ever match Dr Kwame Nkrumah, NKRUMAH NEVER DIES
Somebody ask Fred Agbenyo if even when the struggle started his ancestors were part of the Gold Coast. There was a plebiscite in 1956 to determine where the Trans Volta Togoland should go and Fred Agbenyo is a Trans Togolese so how could he know and speak about that country called Gold Coast/ Ghana? they are the ones who have misinformed some Ghanaians with lies about what happened in Gold Coast!there were books in schools about Ghana History in the 1970s till Rawlings came in and everything became basaaa just because some people wanted to fix themselves into Ghana history because they have no history in Ghana and have distorted Ghana history with the connivance of Kwesi Pratt who think he knows more than anybody else. Somebody should ask Kwesi Pratt how old he was when Osagyefo was president and who was his father in the CPP? since he couldn't be a member by himself being young that time. Sometimes silence is not golden, we must talk and ask questions. Everyone at that time knows of Mr Kofi Baako, Kojo Botsio, Krobo Edusei, Mr Jantua, Mr Welbeck, Mr Nkumsah, mr Abavanna, mr Bawumiah, Kwame Kwakye, Mampong Akosah, Kojo Sardine was a propaganda secretary and who was Kwesi Pratt snr. ? we want to know what he was in the cpp ! Kwame Sefa Kayi please ask your friend who his father was in the CPP! we are dying to know !
Is Paa Grant, Casely Hayford, Arko Adjei, Osu Alata Mantse, K A Gbedemah, JB Danquah, paa Willie members of the Fante Confederacy, GCPp, CPP all part of the independence struggle? Why single out one person? Let us speak the truth for once in this country. Yes Kwame Nkrumah was at the helm of affairs when we had independent so he has been specially mentioned and a day set aside for him and is also part of the founders. So what again do people want?
No one is rewriting Ghana's history. It is the misinformation you guys have been peddling all these years for you political advantage that is being corrected. Go and read Ghana's history again.
u loss the election and still has a baby with sharp teeth
