Former President John Dramani Mahama has vowed to sue on behalf of the victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence.
The former President asserts that having been apprised as what actually happened on that fateful day, he believes the affected "victims need justice".
Speaking on Okay FM's Ade Akye Abia Programme, Spokesperson for the JDM Campaign Team, James Agyenim Boateng explained that the former President has asked his lawyers to study the matter and make proper legal representation for the said victims.
"An election that was suppose to be peaceful ended up being violent and you have people who are fighting for their lives in the various hospitals. They cannot be left alone, we will need to make sure that those victims received the justice they deserve and that is what former president is committed to doing," he added.
He further disclosed that the services of prominent lawyers will retained for the victims very soon.
“The ball is in the court of government. And we’re waiting to see what investigation will take place. But we’re not going to sit down; all those who were injured by the gunshots, we’re going to get them lawyers and they’re going to sue whoever did this. We will take them to court and sue them for adequate compensation for everyone who was injured," he promised.
18 persons were injured and hospitalized at the University Hospital, Legon following the violence that broke out at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituecy during the constituency's by election last Thursday.
There were earlier reports that only six persons were injured. But the official figure currently stands at 18, eventhough some have been treated and discharged.
However, the fate of one of the victims who was transferred to the 37 Military Hospital, is yet to be known.
During the elections, the home of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Delali Kwasi Brempong was besieged by operatives of the national security. This led to the exchange of gun shots.
Another disturbing incident recorded during the by-election, according to a Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) report, was at the Prisons JHS at Roman Ridge.
CODEO reports that security operatives who claimed to be National Security operatives positioned themselves next to polling officials and when a stationed uniformed police officer alerted them to move away from poll officials, a pick-up full of many more of the so-called security operatives descended on the police officer and attacked him for doing legitimate work.

massa, you are irrelevant wai. just keep quiet
JDM wo kye koraa dodo. Let me see you sue immediately and stop the propaganda. wo pana boot for boot wo akye ooooooooo
What happened at Ayawaso was very wrong and I condemn it but I have a problem with Mahama going to court on their behalf. When Mahama was president a lot of these wrongs took place under his watch and he did nothing to correct the wrongs. Ursula Owusu MP was was beaten at Odododiodo by-election,NPP members were beaten at the Talensi by-election,same happened in the Eastern Region and JM saw nothing wrong with that. Shame on Mahama and his NDC. Mahama does not deserve to be our president ever again because he does not have the good of our country at heart. He only wants to come back to do more harm to our dear Nation

If you were a deep thinker, you would not talk like this. What has gone on is very wrong and must be condemned utterly but it does not give you, JDM the opportunity to seek political political out of it. When you were the president of Ghana, Justice who was part of those who were demonstrating for a clean election register was shot in the eye and no government official visited him at the time. If you are a level headed person looking for justice for people, you should first seek justice for the gentleman who was shot in his eye when the Let My Vote Count people went for demonstration. Hypocrisy in the highest order!
You didn't sue on behalf of the 4 young men who were slaugbogbloshie by your Azoka boys. Hypocrisy.
Go to HELL.
YES WE go sue them.
Sue and be sued.
YOU CAN KEEP ON COMING WITH INSULTS. WHAT I AM GRADUALLY LEARNING NOW IS THE FACT THAT MY PRESIDENT WHOM I VOTED FOR IS INDEED A LIAR AND DOESN'T SEEM TO BE THINKING ENOUGH IN ORDER TO KNOW WHAT GHANA IS REALLY TURNING INTO. WHOEVER DEFENDS THIS VIOLENCE THAT HAPPENED THE JUST ENDED BY ELECTIONS AT AYAWASO WEST WUOGON SHOULD BOW HIS OR HEAD IN SHAME.. NOT UNDER A RENOWNED LAWYER AS THE SITTING PRESIDENT. IT'S VERY BAD AM JUST BEING GHANAIAN. THANK YOU
