Deputy Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Kweku Boahen, has slammed members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop blaming the previous NDC government for the recent power outages the parts of the country are currently facing.
“We come in nowhere after leaving government for over two years, what I know for fact is that we left the government in power good electricity conditions which could no longer bring about dumsor,” he proudly said on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ newspaper discussion programme.
According to him, the NDC administration of former President John Dramani Mahama invested heavily in power generation since it is one of the fundamental tools to boost the level of the nation’s productivity.
He said the then government fought very hard to get the country on track as far as electricity issues were concerned.
Kweku Boahen indicated that apart from the previous government putting in proper structures to curb electricity issues, it made back up provision for this sector should they encounter any unexpected problem.
He accused the NPP of misusing the funds allocated by the previous government to solve electricity crisis.
“Dumsor is back in our country because NPP has misused the funds allocated to electricity crisis,” he bewailed.
PDS's Response
The Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) following Tuesday's power outage has debunked rumors that 'Dumsor' has returned.
Some parts of Accra have been experiencing frequent power outage popularly known as ‘dumsor’.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, some parts of Accra including Lapaz, Abeka, Sowutum, Kasoa, Tema, Kwashieman, Odorkor, Awoshie and others slept in darkness.
This made people wonder if we have entered the era of ‘dumsor’ again.
William Boateng, the Public Relations Officer of the PDS says the recent power outages are as a result of a technical problem which has been resolved.
It is not 'dumsor', he assured in an interview on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' on Wednesday..
towards productivity

This people has nothing good for Ghana but they will destroy every opportunity that Ghana is heading to talking without facts baseless accusations
Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! "Ghanafo gyegye Nkwaseafo so". Kwaku Boahen talking. A guy who drinks akpeteshie every morning before going on radio. What sense can he talk? Ghana politics its breeding f-o-o-o-l-l-ls-s-s like kwaku Boahen. So they have soon forgotten 4 years of plunging the nation into darkness? Did they have the antidote? They should respect Ghanaians a bit. They think our senses have run away.
Ah, ah, ah. This Boahen guy has found his voice again. A whole educated teacher would leave his this noble profession job just to be in politics and speak like an illiterate and he has 3 children. I don't know how he is bringing these boys up. He lies like there is no tomorrow. What would it cost NDC communicators to speak the truth for once, to debate on facts and not blatant lies. God help mother Ghana.
Double mouth Kweku Boahen is not serious. Well you have confirmed that NDC stole the tax payers' money that is why dumsor could never be solved. Go and solve the leaked tape issue and stop rabble rousing.
These are technical issues that resulted in power outages to enable repairs and maintenance.. DUMSOR is when Kwaku Boahen's party stifled the power sector that resulted in load shedding because of inadequate generation supply. We cannot be misled Mr. Kwaku Boahen.. The power sector is up and doing and healthy now unlike some 5 years ago.
Where is the Dumso? NDC calls this power outages as Dumso? Then they took as to HELL ABYSS for 4 yrs in darkness! INCOMPETENT party with its INCOMPETENT leader (Mahama)
