The National Democratic Congress has served notice that it will respond appropriately to the Economic Management Team (EMTs) Town Hall Meeting held on Wednesday, which the former described as the "usual populace rhetoric rather than a fact-based presentation" on the economy.
According to the opposition party, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's lecture was "full of misleading facts and patent mis-statement laced with populist rhetoric".
A statement signed by the NDC's General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, assured Ghanaians that "the NDC Finance and Economic Team will take advantage of the public lecture organized by the Coalition For Restoration to address the numerous distortions and lay bare the true facts of the state of the Ghanaian economy".
That event is scheduled to take place at Mensvic Hotel, East Legon, on Thursday, April 4th at 1:00pm
The EMT, under the direct leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, this morning challenged political opponents of the government to provide data to prove the economy is on a nosedive.
Speaking at a maiden Town Hall Meeting, the Vice-President sought to assure the public that the economy is on a sound footing with credible data available to support that claim.
“These are based on credible data and let anyone who disagrees bring his data,” Bawumia served notice in his presentation dubbed: “Our progress, Our status, Our future.”
According to him, statistics available indicate the economy is performing better than previous governments. But the NDC says that is more of a lie than a truism.
Below Is A Copy Of The NDCs Statement.
The National Democratic Congress has taken note of the town hall meeting addressed today by the Chairman of the Economic Management Team, H. E. Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia.
In a manner reminiscent of his utterances during the 2016 general election campaign, Dr. Bawumia’s lecture was full of misleading facts and patent misstatements laced with the usual populist rhetoric rather than a fact-based presentation on the economy.
The NDC Finance & Economy Team will take advantage of the public lecture organized by the Coalition for Restoration (CFR)) to address the numerous distortions and lay bare the true facts of the state of the Ghanaian Economy.
The event is scheduled to take place at Mensvic Hotel, East Legon, tomorrow April 4th at 1:00 pm and it is open to all Ghanaians from all walks of life.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia
General Secretary

hahahahahaha in fact ndc is the most fuuuuulllish political party ever formed on the face of the earth, what adonko sorry adongo as the head economic of team of the ndc, jesus Christ let me end here else I will insult these minions
Not just talk talk for talk sake without facts. The NDC must present their data plus their facts and figures to challenge the vice President or else talk is cheap.
Mahama inherited the fastest growing economy in the world at 14% and within 2 years the economy nosedive to 3.7%. Eventually, he ended up at IMF. Within 2 year of hard work, Dr. Bawumia and his team has resuscitated the economy which is growing at 7.4% and has weaned the country from IMF. End of the story. Ghanaians are not ***barred word***. Boot for "Challey Wotey" is clear for all to see. Period. NDC shall remain in opposition with incompetence for life.
nobody will attend...none of the guys that will go knows anything about real economics...gy1meaa nkoaa
I am not seeing anyone debating the facts but launching personal attacks. This is a shame. We have become people who cannot subject issues to critical analysis. Indeed as I have mentioned several times our curriculum should make debating a core subject in the final year of High school and in the first year of the university across board. Now I set off the debate. Why did Bawumia use 2014 as his base for a comparative analysis to the 2018 levels of depreciation of the cedi? Someone should explain this to me. He just mentioned cursorily that the Bank of Ghana did not "intervene". Why did he use this particular word? He did not say "injection". That is his choice of words. I grant him that but why? He also said clearly that the "principal" reason for the cedi depreciating in relation to the dollar and other major currency was that the IMF insisted that Ghana shore up its foreign reserves - this is part of the fundamentals (MACRO ECONOMICS). Lets subject why there was a a reduction in our foreign reserves. These are critical issues that we should consider. In the background, collectables that is government revenues are not performing why? Lets subject these issues to scrutiny.
NDC IS ON A SUICIDE MISSION. ARE YOU PEOPLE GOING TO OUTDOOR A NEW ECOMOMIC POLICY CALLED 'ADONGONOMICS'? STOP THE REACTIVE POLITICS AND CREATE AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS. FOR ALL THE NOISE GOING ROUND, THE NDC HAS NOT COME OUT OF WHAT THEY WANTED TO DO FOR GHANAIANS.
NDC should be proactive and not reactive. NDC responding to Vice Pee's/EMT town hall meeting should lay out its own economic policy agenda for the discerning public to diagnose and make an informed choice.
Yesterday I heard Chief Biney putting up a spirited denial that the so-called "Adongo counter" to govt townhall encounter is an NDC program. Now they've admitted it. Theirs is, as usual, going to be insults, personal attacks, and propaganda becase they lack the intellectual capacity to address important national issues. Wait and hear their 1diocy at play.
Apuu!! What do you people know about economic management. You destroyed Ghana's economy and the IMF had to come in to manage it for you. Noise makers with no sense.
NDC Economic Team led by Who? Adongo, anyway is a good sign for the country, political discourse is gradually tilting towards issues based than insults, please my advice to the NDC, please provide facts and figures to support your argument so that the citizens of this country can make an informed judgment of both angles
