The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region is asking for an extension of the Limited Voter Registration Exercise in the Volta and Oti regions to make up for delays caused by a recent extensive power outages.
Kafui Agbleze, Regional Communications Officer for the Party said in a release copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Power Distribution Services (PDS) Limited confirmed the widespread blackout in a communique, and was enough compelling evidence for the Electoral Commission (EC) to consider an extension of its exercise.
"The communiqué by PDS is a testament to the fact that there were difficulties with the registration exercise in Volta on Tuesday and Wednesday, which is not the doing of those who wish to register.
"We therefore call on Madam Jean Mensah and the Electoral Commission to extend the number of days for the registration exercise in Oti and Volta to make for the hours lost due to the power outages in the region as confirmed by PDS", he stated.
Power outages were recorded in the two regions on Tuesday, June 18, and lasted well over 24 hours in most areas.
The EC's Limited Voter Registration Exercise started on Monday June 17 and would end on July 7, 2019.

Stupiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid fooooooooooool. I guess the country belongs to only you and your family. I have not read one sensible comment from you on this platform.
No extention of time ndc can go to hell. Ghanaians are ready for their ***barred word***, we will never hand over our country to ndc nkurasefuo, afuom, ntetekwaafuo covering their faces with leaves and cursing it will come back to the ndc in JESUS Name the name above all names ! in this modern world if we have such idi*ts in a political party in Ghana the first to get independence south of the Sahara then we are doomed if such people were in a party that was leading this country! Koku Anyidoho and co. Get your party from this Bole Bamboi king Kong he is destroying ndc making it look toooo primitive for this generation, backward! cast them out like demons before they cause more damage to your party! If ndc was like this in 1992 who would have joined? all these idi*ots John mahama has hired to cause damage to the ndc are all not in the ndc for anything good but their stomach infrastructure!
You have more than 2 weeks to go before the exercise ends, yet you are calling for an extension! And not that there are long queues of people waiting to register. Why is NDC bent on creating problems for the EC? If you want to do something and power goes off, do you wait for 2 weeks to do that thing even if power comes on shortly after? Rather than urging people to go and register, you are asking the EC to extend the deadline. What kind of nu!sance !rr!tants are these?
