The spokesperson of former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawa-Mogtari says the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration will not keep President Akufo-Addo in power.
In a reaction to comments made by President Akufo-Addo when he addressed staff and students of the Bolgatanga SHS, Madam Bawa-Mogtari said the President should rather concentrate on fulfilling his many promises.
"This policy has come to stay. I know that there are people in this country who don't want this policy, who have been campaigning against this policy and they are dreaming that they are going to come back to power to cancel the policy," President Akufo-Addo said.
"I want them to know, that the people of Ghana are not going to subscribe to those dreams. They are not coming back to power and the Free Senior High School Policy has come to stay in our country".
However, Madam Bawa-Mogtari says many of the things that President Akufo-Addo promised have not materialized and Free SHS won't be his trump card in the 2020 Presidential Elections.
"So, you are working on Free SHS to the detriment of health, to the detriment of good roads, to the detriment of good drinking water, above all we still have the double-track system which the former administration led by President Mahama worked very, very hard to remove," she said in an interview on Joy FM.
"Many things will keep a government in power and I believe that many of the things that they promised have not materialized. But, if the President thinks that he can fly on the wings of Free SHS to ensure that his opponents never come back to power then I believe he is deceiving himself".

Madam Bawa please dont be deceived. Ghanaians have really embraced the free SHS and there is no doubt it will surely propel Nana Addo to his second term. Even your boss john mahama upon all his fathers wealth was sent to the north to enjoy free SHS. What at all is john mahama coming to do?? is he coming to continue with his create , loot and share policy, which he mooted for his cronies and family members. No way Madam, Ghanaians have wise up now and will not allow john mahama to come continue with his ***barred word***
"So, you are working on Free SHS to the detriment of health, to the detriment of good roads, to the detriment of good drinking water, above all we still have the double-track system which the former administration led by President Mahama worked very, very hard to remove"........ This is symptomatic of a confused and desperate spokesperson. The NDC has certainly regretted opposing the free SHS project but their teflon cocky nature won't permit them to admit. Every single attempt they make to defend themselves makes them look worse by the day. Poor souls!
Apart fro free SHS poorly implemented what are your achievements
Madam spokesperson, we were expecting you to talk about your former President not knowing that one has to train as a medical doctor and practice for a while before specializing. A whole former President could not get this simple thing right that is why you people do not support the free Shs so that you will continue to always lie your way to power. All the Ndc thinks about is how to win elections. Now you've been exposed
Are you not also deceiving yourself by saying that the government is focusing on free SHS to the detriment of health, roads etc? Are roads not being constructed, clinics and hospitals being opened? How about PFJ? I can keep counting. It is about time you people in NDC came out with a message rather than always waiting for the President to speak, then you react.
Did she say there was double track system and the NDC 'worked very, very hard to remove it'? I never heard that before. This Free SHS will kill the NDC. They are against it mainly because they thought it was an impossible venture and for another government to have come to implement the impossibility, it portrays them as very incompetent so they will fight it tooth and nail. Mahama and his NDC should wait. The Ghanaian people will give their verdict in December 2020.
