Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu has urged government to put measures in place to curb the rising insecurity in the Northern region.
According to him, the people of the Northern region can no longer tolerate the gross insecurity which they are currently bedeviled with.
Speaking after his confirmation in the just ended NDC primaries, Mr. Haruna implored the police and other security forces in the region to up their game in tackling the growing insecurity.
“We are concerned about the growing insecurity in Northern region, particularly Tamale and its environs. We are seeing growing incidents of crime, growing incidents of open armed robbery, growing incidents of seizure in the name of I will kill you. The police must be up and doing to guarantee our safety and security. We will not accept anything short of a guaranteed safety and security for the people of Tamale and Northern region. And therefore the growing insecurity is our primary concern”, Mr. Haruna said.
The minority leader also accused the government of recruiting NPP party vigilantes into the police service, urging that such officers be swept out of the service. He indicated that the NPP government in an attempt to prevent threats from their party vigilantes rewarded them with service work.
Mr. Haruna added that until vigilantes who are recruited into the security services are uprooted, President Akufo-Addo and his government should forget fighting vigilantism.
“What happened was that, some of the NPP vigilante groups, because of their threat, they were recruited into the police, because of their threat, they were recruited into the armed forces, we will not accept that. They should let us know them and stem them out.
The Tamale South lawmaker noted that the country needs a credible and professional police serve that is loyal to them and not a specific political party. –

Haruna, please stop buying guns for them. They cannot afford to buy guns. It is the Politicians who provide them with arms to fight. The government has not done anything. There are better things to focus on.
Please tell your people to be civil and stop ckillings themselves. We the people in the south are not going to waste our time about people who kill and burn houses over cattle and guinea fowl.
As if Haruna doesn't know that his party chairman Ofosu Ampofo and his bunch of nation wreckers are fully behind these wave of criminal activities across the country. They go and muddy the waters upstream and rush downstream to question why that happened. They have been exposed in the famous leaks so we know who is behind these criminal activities.
Tell your people to stop fighting. The amount of money used for peace keeping in the north can be used to develop the country. Tell your people to live in peace with each other.
SO MUCH HYPOCRITICAL HE SAID IT WITH JUST ONE SIDE OF THE MOUTH AND NOT THE FULL ROUND MOUTH! TWEEEEAAA, WHO BORN DOG FOR YOU TO ISSUE SUCH A WARNING. FORGOTTEN OF YOUR PEOPLE?
Haruna, tell your people in the north to be tolerant of each other. If a whole township will be burnt down because a stray cattle have gone to destroy someone's garden, or if a whole town of Bawku will be on fire for decades due over e guinea fowl, then you have have to cause the examination of your people's heads. You guys in NDC played politics with the late Yaa Naa Andani's death and hyped on the ignorance of your own people causing decades of death and destruction of properties in Dagbon. Didn't realize there was the need for security during all that time? I congratulate you for your election as the candidate for NDC, but talking about insecurity is just below the belt because it is your own NDC foot soldiers who have been causing the insecurity as instructed by yourself and Ofosu Ampofo during your meeting with your communicators. All the kidnapping, arson in the markets, killings and the robberies are just in fulfilment of your instruction to your members to cause mayhem and make insecurity a major issue in the elections of 2020. Do not forget that Amadu Sulley is not available to rig the elections for you by creating extra one thousand secrete polling stations for NDC to enable you rig the elections. Fortunately, STL is also lost in the system and the National ID card is also being done to avoid impersonation and foreigners coming to vote as Ghanaians. Let's see how you will survive the 2020 elections.
