Ghana’s Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has told the chiefs and people of Dagbon in the Northern Region, to pay their debt of gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, under whose tenure peace was restored to the area, by voting for him in the 2020 general elections.
Speaking at the 23rd Annual Quranic Commentary ceremony in Tamale organised by the Bambawiya Islamic Institute over the weekend, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia thanked Allah for restoring peace to the Dagbon traditional area, stating that age-long Abudu-Andani rivalry is now history.
He said: “I basically told them that Dagbon owes Nana Akufo-Addo a big debt of gratitude and that debt of gratitude should be paid in 2020 when Nana Akufo-Addo is seeking re-election”.
“He [Akufo-Addo] gave us peace after 40 years of turmoil; the least we can do is to give him four more years as payment and thankfulness for what he has done to bring peace to Dagbon.”
Dr Bawumia urged the chiefs and people of Dagbon not to be swayed by the promises of other political parties.
“For the people of Dagbon, we will say to them: they should relax and come in 2024 for consideration but for 2020, it’s for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to repay him for what he has done for the people of Dagbon. Even the people of Savanna will thank him for the new region and the people of North East will also thank him for the region”.
Dr Bawumia reiterated the government’s assurance that by the end of December 2019, all the ambulances procured for the one constituency, one ambulance intervention under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme, will arrive in the country.
He said the Akufo-Addo-NPP government is investing USD750 million to build the Pwalugu dam, the largest investment any government has made in the north, according to Dr Bawumia, since independence. This, he added, would provide irrigation, flood control systems and electricity to the people of the area. He said construction of the Tamale interchange; the Tamale airport project and a sports stadium for the military in Tamale are all the fruits of the peace taking roots in the area.

Okyehene is begging for votes, barwumia is begging for votes, awuku is begging for votes, what do they know that we don't know. Because anytime a politician start begging for votes then it clearly means they are losing already.
When was the King killed? was it not under this same Akofu Addo? what did he do about it? stop this childish politics. You are becoming so cheap of a vice president why??
This vice president is the most childish vice president Ghana has ever had. What role did nana addo play to bring peace to dagbon? In fact this is an insult to the people of dagbon, that the chiefs don't have brains of their own to understand that peace was paramount for the development of their area. You go and insult the chief and expect them to regard your insults with votes. To the best of my knowledge wasn't some eminent chiefs including asantehene who started the peace process as far back as Professor Mills time. Where was nana addo then. I think barwumia have to be asked to sacrifice a bull to pacify the angry shrines of dagbon for insulting their kingdom
CRY YOU OWN CRY.WHEN NANA CHOSE YOU TO REPLACE HIM WHAT HAPPENED?WE HEARD ALL.YOU'RE A DISGRACE TO THE NORTH.BUT PLEASE IF YOU GET NEAR THE SIT OF GOV'T ANY TIME DUE,COME FOR 20 CATTLE FOR PARTY.WHERE ARE THOSE WHO KILLED THE CHIEF AND THE 40 HOUSE WHOLE THAT WAS WITH HIM THAT DAY?WHEN THAT INCIDENT HAPPENED NANA WAS ATTORNEY GENERAL AND WHAT DID HE DO?IS IT ONLY VOTES YOU NEED FROM THEM?IS IT NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO BRING PEACE TO CITIZENS.YOU PLOT OT KILL THEN YOU RECONCILE FOR VOTES.VICE PRESIDENT WITH COCONUT HEAD.
"After years of turmoil"and you think this violent man who supports the slapping of an MP, by signing a white paper to shield the slapper is the one who brought peace to dagbon? So all these while none of the leaders for 40years did nothing, it was nana addo who had the magic wand to bring peace within two years of his reign. Asem oo! "All die be die" is now the king of peace so he needs to be rewarded with votes. Have we forgotten, the ousting of afoko and kwabena agyepong and even the recent ayawaso beatings? Come for the votes.
