"There is nothing like an independent Electoral Commission," says Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper.
This is in response to political pundits who claim the EC is independent hence should be allowed to take and implement its decisions freely.
However, Kwesi Pratt says "there is no state institution or public official who is independent of the sovereign will of the people of Ghana"
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM morning show 'Kokrokoo', the renowned journalist added: "the independence is within a certain context. When we say they (EC) are independent, it means the President cannot interfere in their operations. The bottom line is that Ghanaians want a peaceful election"
