Sammy Awuku, National Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has advised the general public to desist from sharing false information or fake news about the COVID-19 disease.
Contributing to panel discussion on Peace FM’s 'Kokrokoo' Sammy Awuku expressed worry over the inundation of falsied information about the global scourge on social media, creating unnecessary fear and panic.
“The situation at hand is not a joke . . . my worry is that there is so much pollution especially on social media with false information which if you don’t take care can lead to your early grave . . . I think the idea is to manage the situation and wait for the review of the health experts in the next few days because if there's a lockdown; how are we going to locate the affected ones and get them tested,” he rhetorically asked.
He therefore urged Ghanaians to comply with current government measures and advise of health experts to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
