The National Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Samuel Awuku, has questioned the motive behind setting up of a parallel response team by the flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama.
In a panel discussion on Peace FM's Kokrokoo morning show, the dynamic organizer of the ruling party could not bring himself to grasp the thinking behind such a move by the NDC and their flagbearer.
''I am struggling to understand former President Mahama and the NDC. Do we establish opposition NADMO in times of floods?''he questioned.
Awuku observed that this phenomenon is strange in the country since no opposition party in our political history has arrogated such powers to itself to set up parallel structures to counter that of the state.
Describing the move as reckless and an act of lawlessness, Sammi Awuku described the opposition party as insensitive to the plight of the citizenry. He wondered why anybody would seek to gain political advantage in times of crisis.
COVID-19 has been having a toll on the world not excluding Ghana. The Government of Ghana, as a result, has instituted pragmatic measures to help fight the virus.
The flabearer of the opposition NDC, John Mahama, a week ago, set up and inaugurated a nine-member team he described as NDC's Response Team for COVID-19. The list included people like Kwabena Mintah-Akandoh and Ato Forson.
Meanwhile, on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen afternoon show hosted by Philip Osei Bonsu, a member of the NDC's response team, Kwabena Mintah-Akandoh, justified his inclusion in the team saying he was a science student at the university, therefore, his inclusion should not be seen as anything strange.
Ghana has since recorded 52 infested cases of coronavirus with two deaths.

Have yet to hear of the Democrats set up their own system yet. But NDC are Ghanaians too... And they are honourable...Whether they mean well or not.... Time will tell. Ei,John NASERIDIN!!!
Did Sintim hear what Ken said? He was referring to the part he played and never said the NPP rigged the 2016 elections! "At this time we need proper/effective directions from matured and visionary guys". Is Sintim serious about this statement? Who are these serious and matured guys he is talking about? Mahama and his cohorts? May he kindly tell us one serious and matured statement and/or action John Mahama can be credited with since he appeared on the political scene in Ghana? The action of forming a parallel "response team" to the fight against the coronavirus in Ghana is tantamount treason, to say the least. His propensity to create unnecessary tension is unparalleled in the annals of the nation's history. Please, let someone sit him down and talk to him.
If Akuffo Addo does not travel with NPP/AKYEM passport, then Sammy Awuku should learn to be an ineffective communicator for NPP. We have been told by ken that NPP did not win fairly, so what if NDC is able to outwit NPP in the next election. Ghana is for Ghanaians and not NPP or NDC. All the rubisssh and silllly talks must not be entertained from any party at this time. At this time we need proper/effective directions from matured and visionary guys and not this none sense
This is pandemic and needs all hands on deck, I wish only NPP members would be affected so that Ghanaians will learn. The nation's initial response and preparations were very poor, we are behind in everything from expanding testing centers/PPE's to the general public. mass education is poor, contact tracing is poor and no plans to arrest the situation in epicenters, new voters registration is ongoing in some areas. Is the administration prioritizing elections over safety of Ghanaians. Meanwhile we have adequate preparations for national prayers. The virus is spreading at the speed of light. Are we sensible or simply do not know when to apply common sense. Everything from toilet levy to common fund /project development is politiciized. I strongly believe that a greater percentage will die no matter what
So what is wrong if some other Ghanaian, who are equally capable and knowledgeable are put together to help find a solution to a problem facing Ghana! Not an NPP problem or NDC problem. What manner of generation are we at all, refusing to think. We may have an opposition and a ruling party but none of the people that form them are foreigners so you don't sit somewhere and ask what is an NDC covid19 team coming to do. Did the president said NPP should fast or he said, Ghana ? Please ! Aba!
I am not convinced about Mahama's move to set up another response group for this fight against coronavirus whilst the President of Ghana exercising his powers under the constitution has already set up a Response group that has put in place measures to fight and control the spread of the virus, COVID19.I want to know whether we have two presidents in this country.I will rather support individuals or group to direct their inputs to the the Nation's Response Team (already setup) for the fight against the deadly virus that has shock waves to the entire nation ,Ghana
I didnt wish to respond to this infantile and senseless question but for the sake of other compatriots, I wish to ask Sammy Awuku how on earth could he be comparing Floods to this deadly Corona Virus??... And if he thinks he's here to damage John Mahama by this ***barred word*** positing, then maybe I think he's the wrong person they have pushed to do this!! We as Ghanaians are in abnormal times and we need 'abnormal' solutions!!
If a suggestion to involve the recent Ebola Response Team including a number of professors that worked to successfully prevent Ebola from entering Ghana can receive insults to John Mahama from Sammy Ewuku, it tells you how intolerant that clown is. But we know their frustrations - they thought they would outclass John Mahama but they have noticed it didn't happen. And what they fear most will surely come upon them at the next election. But their inborn character is making even a single day of their tenure seem like one year.
Mr Awuku these are not times for politics Collectively let's fight this pandemic
The student is more useful than your president.
