Former President John Dramani Mahama says the novel coronavirus pandemic has exposed the structural weaknesses in the economic paradigm of African countries.
In a statement on his Facebook page to mark African Union (AU) Day, John Mahama who is also the leader and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress stated that; "COVID-19 has exposed the structural weaknesses of our economic paradigm as exporters of primary goods and importers of finished products."
"But with innovative leadership and a belief in especially our enterprising and dynamic young people, we can and we should turn the wheels of the African Economy back on track."

Seven years ago, I joined my colleague Heads of State in Addis Ababa to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Continental Union, the African Union.
We adopted #Agenda2063 as our blueprint for transforming our continent into a future significant global partner.
Across our continent, as we celebrate #AfricaDay on Monday May 25, we must dedicate ourselves as a people and governments towards realising the objectives of #Agenda2063 and building #TheAfricaWeWant.
COVID-19 has exposed the structural weaknesses of our economic paradigm as exporters of primary goods and importers of finished products.

Happy AU Day.

Thank God you are not the president of Ghana in this critical moment of covid 19, we would have all been dead by now. God always knows better
Mr John the ded goat 🐐 you’re still displaying your grossed incompetent here too. Just want you to know that it’s not only in Africa that COVID-19 has affected economically but the entire world. In the other hand please bring back the £5m AIRBUS bribery cash you took to boost Africa’s economy. Are you not ashamed of yourself to even turn on your computer to send this childish message??? This is why I decree like the Jews said never again to ndc. NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU NDC YAAMUTU
Sir, covid 19 has not only affected Africa's economy but the world economy at large including the United States of America if you care to know sir! Covid 19 has affected every aspect of our existence as human being so please, desist from making politics out of it. Please, do not invoke the competence of our able vice president Alhaji Dr. Bawumia to response to you. Remember sir, you were once on the driving seat so be careful what you put out there because your records speak for you Mr. former president.
I do not know if former President Mahama has an adviser, then his comments about certain issues leave much to be desired from a former President who had taken charge of the Ghanaian economy before. It is a fact and evident by data that President Akufo-Addo handled the Ghanaian economy much better than former President Mahama. Before the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic management of the present administration was on a good path, even any layman of economics can attest to that. It is politically expedient, and you are sometimes better off, better not to comment about certain issues. Which, in the act, conversely, becomes counterproductive
Covid 19 has affected not only African countries..... This Airbus bribe taker guy is seriously incompetent. NDC must replace him as their flag bearer as soon as possible.
Vague statement. Lacks substance.
