Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) has called for the immediate closure of the house of legislature and the mandatory self-quarantining of members and staff of the house who have tested positive for COVID-19.
ASEPA’s call follows media reports on Tuesday, 26 May 2020 suggesting that two MPs and 13 staff of Parliament have tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement issued by ASEPA and signed by its Executive Director, Mensah Thompson, it noted that following a discussion in the house of Parliament on Wednesday, 27 May 2020, “it seems the reports that made rounds in the media space was very true contrary to the disclaimer issued by Madam Kate Addo of the Public Affairs unit.”
ASEPA, therefore, called for the “immediate closure of Parliament for two weeks and a mandatory self-quarantine of all Members of Parliament and Parliament Staffs”.
According to ASEPA: “This would make way for the entire Parliament to be fumigated extensively and the Chamber seriously disinfected to make it wholesome and habitable after the two weeks period” emphasising that “there are no Emergency Bills before Parliament, all COVID-19 Bills have been duly approved and so we can afford to suspend Parliament for two weeks without any serious ramifications, all other Parliamentary duties can be performed virtually.”
It further continued that the house of legislature must be closed down immediately “to prevent cross infections” in the house and also “to prevent onward community transmission at the various constituencies where the MPs visit almost every weekend.”
ASEPA added that closing down parliament will also “prevent unnecessary financial burden on the State through needless by-elections if any MP loses their life to COVID-19.”

Any 1DIOT forms an NDC-based NGO and they just talk any how. Mensah Johnson or whatever he calls himself on what basis must parliament be closed down. They have tested all of them and contact tracing is being done for those who tested positive so why must they close parliament down. So if one person test positive in any organization they must close the whole organization down?
By your analysis, then they continue to lock down their constituents and close all the places they have visited. Did you hear that No. 10 downing street office of the British Prime Minister was closed down because the Prime Minister tested positive. And what happened when the office was not closed down. The earlier the Ndc decided to take part in the registration process, the better it will be for them. They told their members not to register for the NIA card and they did about turn to register. Now they are blaming the system that some of their members do not have the cards; na who cause am. I will advise all the grassroots to register as soon as the centers are opened and not to rely on their executives who are indecisive.
No it won't be closed down but they will do contact tracing and quarantine those who are positive. The election is coming on so stop the schemes.
