Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has questioned the Supreme Court’s decision to defer reasons for the ruling to 15th July, 2020.
He is of the view that since we are in a ‘national emergency’, the reasons should have accompanied the ruling.
The Supreme Court on Thursday gave its ruling in a case filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against the Electoral Commission over its decision to compile a new voters’ register.
The Court however deferred the reasons for its decision to the 15th of July 2020.
But Kwesi Pratt, who said he did not understand the ruling initially because of its ambiguity, believed the reasons would have helped made things much clearer.
“What kind of reasons will take two weeks to bring out?” he asked.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Mr Pratt bemoaned: “This is a national emergency so why will the reason for the ruling come out on 15th July? By then the voters’ registration exercise is almost over . . . 15th July why . . . this will affect other processes that some people will want to take because of the controversies surrounding the compilation of the new register; personally I’m waiting for the reasons to really understand the ruling; without the reasons, it will be difficult to understand the decision . . . 15th of July!!! Why This means if you read the reasons and you disagree, it will be difficult to do anything”.

The ruling of the apex court is fantastic, my only problem is about the pandemic. Our voters register is full of foreigners. And I think it's time to allow only Ghanaians to decide who should lead us. I can tell you for a fact that if you go to Bole Mahama's backyard, thousands of Zaminamers trading there have our voters ID. and they all vote as Ghanaians. But trust me they were unable to venture when we were doing the Ghana card. Which means the names of these people are going to be eliminated from the new register. So Ghanaians should embrace it but take care of the corona because it exist
Oh Paa Kwesi, just a small favor the NDC did for you this is what you have become. Paying your daughters fee in the UK and giving you a used government 4 by 4. Common brother you can raise your game a little bit. Nowadays besides ahomoburo Sefa K who calls you to Peace nobody cares about you. Feeding on crumbs from Mahama is all that life has become of you.
Where exactly did Kwesi Pratt go wrong in his opinion on the Supreme Court ruling that has resulted in barrages of insults and attacks? "Hypocrites and Parasites" who have also become "Political Fanatics" and Extremists" You carry every political issue in a negative way to an extreme end. Even the lawyers from both political divide could not satisfactorily explain the ruling on the issue of the current Voter ID Card. You people have become Alsatian Dogs" where you have been trained to attack anyone who expresses an opinion which differs from your standpoint without recourse to carefully dissecting the matter under discussion. No wonder an opinion poll conducted by Ghanaweb on the Dec elections showed that over 90 percent of the respondents predicted a massive win for Mahama. "These those them" Wei nom S33 nom.
NOBODY EXPECTED KWESI PRATT TO UNDERSTAND THE SC RULINGS. HOWEVER, PRATT WAS WRONG TO THINK THAT GHANA LAWYERS DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE RULINGS. I AM NOT A LAWYER BUT I UNDERSTOOD EVERY BIT OF THE RULINGS. NDC LAWYERS UNDERSTOOD BUT DID NOT LIKE IT. THAT IS OK. NOBODY EXPECTS LOSERS IN A DISPUTE TO BE HAPPY. ASIEDU NKETIA DID BECAUSE HE DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE RULING. INNUSA IDDRISU APPAERED CONFUSED BECAUSE HE WAS EITHER MISCHIEVOUSS OR DECEPTIVEE. MAHAMA AND HARUNA IDDRISU UNDERSTOOD THE RULINGS HENCE, THEIR FRUSTRATIONS AND THEIR ILLOGICAL ATTACKS ON THE RULINGS. IT WAS NOT FOR NOTHING THAT NDC LAWYERS REFUSED TO SPEAK BUT ALLOWED ASIEDU NKETIA TO LIE TO THE MEDIA AND THE PUBLIC. THE REASON WAS THAT ASIEDU NKETIA IS NOT A LAWYER AND HE COULD BE PARDONED FOR HIS LIES AS ERROR AND NOT IGNORANCE. NONE OF THE NDC LAWYERS WANTED TO DISGRACE HIMSELF AS ***barred word*** SO THEY WERE ALL SILENT. THE JUDGES GAVE JULY 15, 2020 TO PROVIDE THE REASONS BEHIND THE RULINGS. THE DELAY IS VERY REASONABLE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS NDC PETITION AGAINST EC AND AG. THE JUDGES OVERWORKED THEMSELVES TO REACH THE RULINGS. THE PETITIONERS KEPT MODIFYING THE PETITION ALONG THE WAY. AT ONE POINT THEY HAD TO WITHDRAW A PETITION IN ORDER TO BECOME COHERENT AND NOT CONTRADICTORY. AT ANOTHER POINT THEY HAD TO CONSOLIDATE PETITIONS. THE PETITIONERS COMPLICATED PROCEEDINGS AND THE JUDGES HAD TO WORK HARD TO ELIMINATE ALL ABSURDITIESSS. FORTUNATELY FOR THE JUDGES, THEY WERE UNANIMOUS IN THEIR JUDGEMENT. HAVING GONE THROUGH SUCH AN ORDEAL TO GIVE AND EARLY RULING FOR EC TO CARRY OUT ITS SCHEDULED PROGRAMS, IT IS EXPEDIENT THAT THE SC JUDGES DON'T RUSH, BUT TO TAKE TIME TO GIVE THE REASONS BEHIND THE RULINGS. THE SC HAS BEEN SUBJECTED TO AN UNWARRANTED PRESSURE BY POLITICAL RACKETEERS. WE MUST NOT THINK THAT THE SUPREME COURT JUDGES ARE NOT SMARTER TO KNOW ALL THE POLITICAL GAME PLAY INVOLVED IN THE CASE. THEY ARE THE JUDGES OF THE APEX COURT AND NEEDED TO CONTROL THE PROCEEDINGS THAN TO ALLOW THEMSELVES TO BE MISUSED BY SOME UNSCRUPULOUS POLITICIANS. HAVING ISSUED THE RULINGS THEY CAN NOW TAKE TIME TO PROVIDE THE REASONS AT THEIR OWN CONVENIENCE.
Massa go and burn the sea wai..... we are tired of your b0gus submissions nowadays....
Even when we all knew that the 2012 elections had been rigged and was evidently clear in the supreme court and the whole country was on tentahooks, Atuguba just came and read judgement with no reasons. they had to deffer the presentation of their ruling. Kwesi, try and be consistent with your comments and not be ***barred word***. consistency is the hall mark of integrity. I rest me case.
KWESI, LEGAL INTERPRETATION IS FOR THE "LEARNED MEN/WOMEN". MONKEYS PLAY BY SIZE, SO HOW WOULD YOU UNDERSTAND IT. EVEN SEIKWA CHAMBERS, ESQUIRE ASIEDU NKETIA DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THE RULING SO DON'T WORRY.
Kwesi has a problem with everything except himself. When Black stars wins a game that we are all excited he even has a problem. He has been criticizing everything since the 80's isn't it about time you handed in the gloves?
***barred word*** you can go to hell whether you like it or not the registration is coming on You paymasters will be in opposition for a long time
WE CAN ALWAYS DISAGREE ON ISSUES, BUT WE NEED TO SHOW RESPECT TO THE VIEWS OF OTHERS TOO. UNCLE KWESI, WE CANNOT ALWAYS BE RIGHT. THE SUPREME COURT HAS RULED, LET US MOVE ON. MEANWHILE, IS THIS THE FIRST TIME REASONS FOR A JUDGEMENT HAS BE DEFERRED? I BEG TO DIFFER. LONG LIVE GHANA, LONG LIVE THE SUPREME COURT OF GHANA.
