"But for God, I would not be alive," Education Minister, Matthew Opoku Prempeh told Kwami Sefa Kayi.
The Minister, popularly known as Napo who tested positive for COVID-19 shared his experience after being discharged from the hospital in an interview on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Thursday.
According to him, he fell ill and after a series of tests at the hospital, he tested negative to the virus. However, he was still not feeling better even after treating Malaria.
He was subsequently admitted at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra where he spent 13 days before being discharged.
"I tested positive while on admission . . . ," he indicated.
"I thought I was going to die based on the condition when I was admitted, but after I was stabilized, I knew the worst was over.
"What I went through, it was only by the Grace of God," he recounted and urged those who are not taking COVID-19 serious to have a mindset change.
Over 90% of staff test positive
He has also disclosed that 5 of his family members and majority of staff at the Education Ministry have all tested positive for the virus.
"After my second result came out positive, testing was conducted on all the staff. Majority were positive; out of 50, about 45 had contracted the virus. Most of them have mild symptoms and are isolating at home," he added.
The Education Minister, however, disagreed with critics who think schools should be closed down.

We thank God for delivering Napo from Covid 19. Praise God!!!!!!! Napo so now what do you say about our children who you have pushed back to school. I am sure you need to advise the Powers that be to revert their decision on pushing children to school Several countries have postponed reopenning of all children. In Ghana the powers that be are determined to push the children to school. Note what Napo said, he was observing all the protocals

Sorry, for jumping the gun. You interviewed him on phone. I was shocked, you could do that. Sorry for messing up. I only care for you and your family.
Sefa kayi paaaa woegimi oo! Why do you interview this COVID19 patient in your studio. Don't you know you can expose yourself to this COVID19. Yes, he has been discharged, but you need to monitor him for sometime before granting access to your studio. You may get infected and your wife, children and family may be at risk.
I now see why nana addo is an ediot who has deceived us for voting for him. His stoupidity is similar to those he appointed. Learning from what NAPO is saying, that his family members and staff are infected, it is so sad we have president and his SC appointees and Jean Mensa all connived to ***barred word*** push Ghanaians to registration centers to register when they know very well how this sickness is fast spreading and potentially can kill innocent Ghanaians. Today, he the president is in self isolation, the chief justice is also in self isolation, I wouldn't be surprised if Jean mensa is also self isolating. Sir John and Takoradi DCE are dead. So many high profile npp persons have COVID19, yet our leaders insist on new register for their selfish interest. For me if we don't vote nana addo out, they we Ghanaians are all lunatics. Every decision nana addo has taken during this COVID19 era smack of incompetence, irresponsibility and wickedness. He doesn't deserve to lead this nation.
